Shein clothing for women

Hi, thinking of ordering some summer clothes from Shein (tops/t shirts mainly) I'm a size 14 and just wondered what the quality and sizing is like? They do a 12/14 and a 16...would I need to size up or not? Thanks!

Awful quality

robocracker · 06/05/2022 22:00

It's all random! I've had amazing stuff and not so great stuff. Read the measurements for sizings especially for the waist and buy according to the size chart. I buy a lot if my teens clothes from there.

milkysmum · 06/05/2022 22:05

The sizing is very random to be honest. My daughter loves shein ( she's 13 ), I've had some ok stuff, other stuff has been terrible.
I'm a size 10 and sone size 10 has fit, other stuff would not fit a 10 year old!
I've had tops in small, medium and large- they are so random.

Quadrilingual · 06/05/2022 22:08

I agree with the others that it's a real mix bag. I wear a UK 10 and I'm quite short so for me their stuff length wise is great. Not sure if you're tall how it would be. I usually get a S for tops and M for bottoms from there but I always read the reviews in detail as they really help know which size to go for as well as the measure guide. Let us know what you buy!

I found this a little on the large size and wish I ordered a smaller size

You are joking?

Useranon1 · 06/05/2022 22:50

Please don't buy Shein. At least Google their (non)ethical practices first so you know what you're doing.

worraliberty · 06/05/2022 22:52

Shein are so random in their quality. Some bits are nice and some are totally shit.

It pops up on my FB a lot and I've noticed many of the outfits look photoshopped onto the models.

It was perfect on me 🤷‍♂️

anywhichwaytoo · 06/05/2022 22:58

Please don't.

If budget is tight, look at some gorgeous good quality pre-loved pieces, or just one or two new capsule dresses that you'll wear for the next 10yrs+, not some tat that will disintegrate in the wash after a year and end up in landfill.

justjuggling · 06/05/2022 23:00

Really random sizing and I found a nightmare to return stuff. Wouldn't buy from there again.

bluejelly · 06/05/2022 23:10

Total fast fashion made in sweat shops. I would avoid.

JulyDreams · 06/05/2022 23:10

Rubbish quality

Autienotnaughtie · 07/05/2022 04:34

Dd is size 8 and easy shape to fit clothes. She says quality is hit and Miss but fits fine.

Ireolu · 07/05/2022 06:47

It's terrible I ordered 3 summer dresses last year none fit, kept one to wear about the house. Sent the other 2 back. Very poor quality could not wear any of it out and about and this was before I learnt about the dodgy ethics.

Flammkuchen · 07/05/2022 07:01

Avoid, avoid, avoid.

The quality is so poor - very thin.
Primark is much better.

Every single item is air-freighted from China. It means they can avoid U.K. VAT but the environmental impact is appalling.

CornishGem1975 · 07/05/2022 07:03

I haven't found the quality that bad, on a par with Primark really but like Primark the fit can be really odd. Just never flattering.

ItsDinah · 07/05/2022 07:09

Look at Justine Lecomte,YouTube,"Fast Fashion at its worst". Justine is a French fashion designer and she has done try ons of hauls from various brands. She ordered a batch of items from Shein and tells you about them in that video.

TheChild · 07/05/2022 07:11

I've never bought anything from Shein but DDs aunt bought her a dress from them once. The material was just weird, it looked and felt cheap. She buys most of her clothes there and most of them look nice but for the price I doubt they will be ethical or good quality.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 07/05/2022 07:19

I bought a pair of pyjamas plus-size - way too big but pyjamas so hey-ho. Fun print.

i thought the cat had shit under the bed because there was such an awful smell permeating the room. Turned out it was the armpits of the jammies and no amount of washing could shift it, so they went in the bin. I’ve cotton stuff I’ve worn until literally threadbare doesn’t smell.

will never buy again because I don’t think I’ve ever smelled that bad in my life! 😂

90sBritPop · 07/05/2022 07:27

My experience wasn’t good, my T-shirts/tops were all cheap looking polyester. One T-shirt in particular looked lovely in the photos but when it came it was really shiny. (Cheap shiny)

Obviouslg they make it difficult for you to return so they all went in the charity bag and I learnt my lesson. You get what you pay for ☺️

That's just not true. I have a Shein dress that I have worn regularly for four years. It fits perfectly and washes really well.

It's a myth that Shein is utter rubbish and high street is better. They come from the same factories.

yoshiblue · 07/05/2022 07:31

Another please don't! Their returns go straight to landfill, see pic half way down this article

They also steal other people's work.
