High street primer for mature skin

WeAreTheHeroes · 06/05/2022 14:58

Any recommendations for a primer for mature skin? I'm late 40s, lines around eyes. I liked the Rimmel primer I had a few years ago, but it brought me out in spots. Looking to pick something up on the high street tomorrow.

I like the No.7 Protect & Perfect primer and for super cheap there's W7 who do free delivery too.

WeAreTheHeroes · 06/05/2022 20:34

Thanks for that - I had a W7 eye primer I didn't rate but will look at the No 7.

I've been using Aldi primer - Lacura, it's great value and worth a try.

My faves are Rimmel Fix & Protect - not sure if this is the one that gave you spots - and Autograph (M&S) Luminosity Radiant Skin primer. I also like the No 7 Airbrush one. I recently bought Elf Luminous Putty Primer but it doesn't work for me at all. Someone mentioned W7 and I had a great one from there years ago. Also had a great Barry M one which they no longer make but keep meaning to try another of their's.

Collection Primed and Ready

I’m 51 and use the N07 lift and luminate primer. It’s great and gives a glow even under foundation- I use their lift and luminate foundation too.

Benjispruce4 · 06/05/2022 22:20

Sorry it’s No 7 Airbrush away radiance boosting primer.

ByeByeMissAmericanPie · 07/05/2022 07:05

I like and use the Smashbox primer. I’m 50s.

WeAreTheHeroes · 07/05/2022 07:44

Thank you all - I'll be checking out your recommendations later.

If you have a tkmaxx they have some Rodial Dragons bloodĺ sculpting gel which is like a primer imo. Feels lovely.

WeAreTheHeroes · 07/05/2022 08:00

Thanks for that tip too - I'll be in Manchester so yes, there's a TK Maxx.

I'm 49 and I really like Aldi's snapshot ready illuminating primer. And it's only £5.99!

Yes that's the one I mentioned above- I'm quite a lot older though!

I've just put that one on my face! I prefer the M&S one but the Lacura is not bad for the money. I'm 57.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 07/05/2022 12:39

Not sure if it's classed as a primer but Clarins Lisse Minute/Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch is excellent. I'm 52 with loads of fine lines and it really does provide a good base. It's very pricey but worth it if you use it now and again. It's incredibly smooth and a little goes a long way.

WeAreTheHeroes · 17/05/2022 21:24

I thought I'd update. I bought the No 7 Airbrush Away primer, just the regular one as I didn't fancy the coloured ones when I tried the testers. Very impressed - I put my make up on at 7am and 12 hours later, including having been in a hot and stressful environment for some of the time, it needed minimal touching up. Also looked good in photos.

I also bought the No 7 Lift and Luminate Serum Concealer. Around my eyes it gave really good coverage and blurred my wrinkles. Worked well on the rosacea on my cheeks too. I'd been using the Maybelline Eraser Eye concealer, but this is better imo.

Ah great op, try the lift and luminate foundation next.
Glad you like the primer, it’s fab.

Benjispruce4 · 17/05/2022 22:35

Also if anyone interviewed. I bought Trinny London BFF eye and it’s fantastic. It’s a serum, primer and concealer in one and I can’t fault it. I would consider her BFF face but quite happy with the No7 at the moment.

Benjispruce4 · 17/05/2022 22:35

Interested not interviewed.

I like and use the Smashbox primer. I’m 50s.

If I wear primer I use Lanacane anti chaffe gel as it's the same as Smashbox.

WeAreTheHeroes · 18/05/2022 07:19

Interesting @Benjispruce4 thanks for that. I've seen the BFF Eye advertised and it looks good.
