Classic birthday present (for me!)

I am having a milestone birthday this year and after a few difficult years privately and job wise, things are looking good.

I want to buy myself something classic - a watch, a bag?, a bracelet or earrings. Not interested in shoes and limited interest in a bag as I don’t use nice bags much atm.

Thinking along the lines for a Cartier watch, a LV bracelet or a Van Cleef Arpels bracelet or necklace.

budget is 4k max, I might get some birthday money too that I could invest too. I have a DD and would love to pass it on to her one day.

inspire me please! What would you get?

Cartier Tank or Panthere would be sound investment as casual for everyday wear so cost per day/wear would be pence.

A Cartier watch sounds absolutely lovely op! A ring could be a good option too.

I love my diamond studs, very rarely take them out. For £4k you could get a really decent carat weight. I love watches too, but I change my mind often about styles I like, whereas my diamond studs are timeless.

Agree with @Rina66, I have a pair of diamond studs I was given for my 40th. They go with everything and are a classic when it comes to passing onto DD.

I'd look for a nice Rolex. Not sure of current 2nd hand prices as havnt looked in a few years.
Or maybe a chanel woc?

LaburnumAlpine · 05/05/2022 07:12

I agree with diamond studs, timeless. Be careful if you sport long hair though, I have lost 2!!! sizeable studs, in separate incidents, got stuck in hair while out partying I suppose as didn't feel a thing when they sadly departed.

There is a brand called Mene that sells gold jewellery that is also a gold investment that can be traded later, this might be worth considering if you are thinking of it as a legacy for your daughter.

Thank you all some great suggestions!

I’d definitely spend that money on a Chanel mini flap. Not black but something neutral. Lambskin.

AdriannaP · 06/05/2022 09:16

I like the idea of diamond studs, didn’t even think of it. I could get smaller ones for around 2k and get a small bag or get myself the earrings and suggest money towards the bag to my DH 🤔

not sure about lambskin, my DD might not like that in 20-30 years?
