Hope I've attached the pics OK. I'm mother of the groom at a v casual wedding - with the delightful addition of seeing his father for the 1st time in 15 years😕
I really thought I'd found the perfect dress (in pics) but it arrived today and it's beach dress thin - completely see through and slips just don't work with it.
Any ideas anyone?? 6ft tall size 12 no boobs or bum

I want this one from MaxMara. I can't afford it, I have nowhere to wear it, but it comes in two colours and I want both just to gaze at because they're so pretty....

I was MoG in April and wore a nancymac jumpsuit I bought online. Silky material, wide legged it would be perfect for you at your height ! Also great for small boobs! I got so many compliments… £200 , would that be ok for you ?

If you really love the dress in your picture, you could ask a dressmaker/seamstress to line it.

Try a Spanx type bodysuit? I wear these one size up for warmth and decency.

I bought a similar looking dress from eShakti - the design is the same, but it is in a cream and floral fabric. It is two layers, so not beach-thin, and you can adjust the length, sleeves and neckline, and even have the dress made to your measurements - as a very plus sized woman, I found this very useful when I was buying this dress for ds1’s wedding. It isn’t expensive either - it did take about a month for the dress to be made and delivered (from India, although eShakti is an American site) - and it fitted me perfectly.

It’s this one.

ASOS tall? Nice deep back

There is quite a good choice on there

Howdidthathappen1 · 04/05/2022 18:48

Thanks all. I love the max mara one - bit out of budget though.
I have sent a couple back to asos just due to sweaty fabric - wedding's in july but I'll have another look.
I'm going to message Nancy mac about those jumpsuits - they're beautiful but not sure they're quite long enough.
The ex was an abusive $#@t so I'm wanting to feel confident on the day!

I love the look of lots of the Nancy Mac stuff- have promised myself something when I’ve lost weight…

Hobbs and Phase Eight - both available at John Lewis. Don’t have the same kind of back as the Cos one though. Any good?

Thanks - the phase eight one is lovely.
Think I need to brave a JL or the shops in general - I rarely do as nothing is ever long enough - midi dresses sit right on my knee at the most unflattering length. That's why I like cos as the dresses seem to be cut a bit longer
Does this look weddingy- with some dangle earrings and a nice necklace

The green Max Mara is lovely, if expensive.

Have a look at Kemi Telford dresses online at John Lewis. Work for tall women and thicker cotton suits the relaxed wedding vibe but more structured. Nicely cut.
