best box dye for cool browns?

I’m looking for a cool brown box dye, which is conditioning and good coverage, wondered what you all use and recommend? I cant keep
paying £140 a pop to
my hairdresser

Back in the first lockdown when we couldn’t see hairdressers, I used the John Frieda Foam Colour in Medium Ash Brown (got it from Amazon).
I’d not home dyed my hair in years, but this was easy to use and I thought the results were very good. I applied it just at the roots initially and then combed it through a bit (I think this makes the colour less ‘solid’ and looks more natural).
I’m thinking of giving it another go. I wasn’t happy with my hair after my last appointment, thought it was too dark and solid. I’ve just looked back at a photo and realised that my home dye job was better!
I was paying similar to you pre Covid (London)… but now it’s £190 😱 - I’m sure the increase was initially justified by PPE/cleaning/gaps between clients etc… but I don’t think this is actually happening any more so it’s just a rip off!

Forgot to say - the Medium Ash Brown shade is a cool brown - no redness or warmth.

Josh Wood hair dyes are the best I have ever used. Hair feels, looks and smells great after using them. £14 I buy them online at josh wood site or Boots.
