Short torso!

This has been a revelation for me!

Ever since I was very young, and I am now mid forties, I have never felt comfortable in jeans, trousers, shorts. I always thought it was about fit or whether the item was high or low rise. Just got on with it and wore dresses more.

But, I do a lot of stuff which requires more practical items than dresses so it's a bugger. However, recently something occurred to me that hadn't previously - It is my short torso that puts me off wearing that stuff. I am very slim/flat gut and ok proportioned and everyone says I can wear anything, but it honestly doesn't work that simply.
What I have realised is anything with any slight bulk or fastening at waist/hip level makes me look bulky and square because my waist sits higher on my frame. If I wear dresses or high rise gym leggings I look fantastic as there's nothing adding bulk to the middle.

Anyone else noticed this?
It took me all these years to see what was bothering me about jeans and skirts. I used to think getting low rise was the answer but because I have 'high hips' any flesh in that area just bulges over, no matter how slim.

I think many of us have a longer leg, shorter torso situation going on, so I would love to hear if you are like me, and noticed most waisted garments make you feel off.

I find it hard to know if I am high or low waisted, I've watched some YouTube videos but still can't quite make it out, if I do the measurements it says I am long bodied as top of head to crotch is 2 inches longer then crotch to floor, but most tops I buy are too long for me as if am short waisted, I am petite 5ft2, I also don't like bulk around my middle.

I'm have a high waist and short torso. It's a pain in the bum! Trousers/jeans are never comfy. I usually stick to high waisted jeggings or leggings and then dresses. Most of the women in my family have this shape and it can be tricky to dress in a flattering way as many trends have been very unkind to those of us with a high waist!

It's hard to tell by measuring, I'm sure I once did a calculation and came out 'average'.

What gives it away, I think, is when you put some jeans or trousers on and go to wear a belt. The belt feels too high up even if the jeans are mid rise. It also shows when you tuck in a top, you feel there's hardly any gap between your boobs and waist so the top looks bulky even if it's not.

More form fitting clothes are better because they don't create an obvious 'chop off' in the high middle.
Naked I look fine, but in anything with pockets and elastic like pj's or skirts, etc I looks really wide.

One advantage is we could wear high waist trousers and a crop top and not flash anyone!

I’m the other way round, long torso, short legs. The less good version really but took me years to notice!

I have a short torso, high waist and long legs for my 5ft 2 height. I know I have a short torso as high-waisted jeans / trousers usually end up just under my boobs! Weirdly for my height I can wear most regular length jeans and trousers (long legs).
