Facial sun cream that doesn’t cause spots

Does such a thing exist? Every one I’ve tried results in me breaking out in small pimply spots, mainly on my chin, after a day or so. I splashed on La Roche-Posay Antelios factor 50 as I’d seen it recommended for this sort of problem, but it’s just as bad! I end up looking like a teenager with acne after two days on holiday!

I'm prone to acne but have no issues with Clinique city blocker. They do 25, 40 or 50 SPF. I've used them all and had no breakouts

Ninspeedles · 03/05/2022 13:27

To add, I wear it everyday under makeup even during the winter

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 03/05/2022 13:31

I have really sensitive skin and use Amber Solaire spray factor 50. Usually works for me.

GettingStuffed · 03/05/2022 13:34

I use Tesco own brand facial sunscreen, no spots

Wallabyone · 03/05/2022 13:41

I use Nuxe factor 50 for the face

MsTulip · 03/05/2022 13:56

Great suggestions thank you. I’m not great with regular exfoliation on my face tbh, so wondering if that might help too.

Stupid question but are you removing it properly? Usually that's what causes it

Ninspeedles · 03/05/2022 14:16

Exfoliation is the worst for spots! It breaks a the skin and spreads bacteria

doadeer · 03/05/2022 14:42

Are you cleaning it off at night? I usually need something oil based/balm Cleanser, followed by a water based Cleanser.

Beauty pie do a good one
Altruist face fluid is good
Ultra Violette is nice but more pricey

Bananaman123 · 03/05/2022 14:43

Lancaster is amazing, I have oily skin and use the milk for body and face cream

The only one I've ever found that works (and I've tried loads) is Paula's choice. I love their skincare too. Definitely make sure your washing it off really well too, I always double cleanse when I've had spf on.

I’ve just bought the new garnier two in one; vitamin c and spf25. Literally every other spf has made me break out but I’ve been using this for about a week and so far so good! I have dry, acne prone rosacea skin.

urrrgh46 · 03/05/2022 18:27

I use the one by Nivea and also have used and like ultrasun face fluid. Not had problems and have sensitive skin.

I’ve been using Altruist sunscreen (from Amazon) following its recommendation on another Mumsnet thread. I have very sensitive skin and I was so impressed with it I went on the buy the facial moisturiser too. Both perfect.

oreosoreosoreos · 03/05/2022 18:45

Coola spf 50 facial sunscreen from space NK. It’s lovely and light, and doesn’t aggravate my super sensitive skin.

I have been religiously cleaning my face at night though, and I think it really makes a difference.

MsTulip · 03/05/2022 19:13

i knew I’d be asked about cleaning it off! Yes, religiously every night. Also, even if I try to minimise application on my chin, the spots still appear there!
