What shoes/boots to professional looking women wear?

I'd be really grateful for some advice!

A couple of years back I got a significantly more senior role and I got some brilliant advice here about how to dress for the role. I then ended up working from home a lot and now need to go back in, and have lost my mojo a bit.

I have a number of work outfits I think are ok - a few just-below-the-knee dresses and some smart trousers and blouses. But I'm struggling with shoes. I'm really not a fan of high heels and wonder if there's anything flat I can wear that would be OK, or maybe something with a low heel? I've been wearing for knee high boots with dresses and some ugly black shoes left over from my days as a staff nurse with trousers, but I think there has to be something better or more appropriate?

I am quite a big person (size 20) if that matters. I don't have an aspiration to look amazing, just want to come across as professional looking, and I'm not sure what I should be aiming for!

My only 'smart' work shoes are brogues. I wear boots in the winter. You can get some interesting styles (platform soles!) and colours. My current favourite is a white/beige mini platform pair. Kin at John Lewis have some nice ones (silver!). I also have a pair of leopard print leather Grenson's that I'm gearing up to wear. I tend to wear them with black trousers/plain top and blazer or teeedy box jacket. I think the Clark's hamble oak are a bit...boring? I kind of feel my clothes are a bit monotone/minimal generally but you can have fun with shoes!

But my industry isn't super smart, tbh - not like law or accountant type city places.
