Advice needed please re damaged nail

I (accidentally) caught it about 10 days ago in a door. The bail appears to be split but it’s not come off. It is caught at the dude and I’m worried I’m going to catch it in something and it will rip off.
Should I just be really careful and let it eventually grow out?
Get a repair job done in the salon and disguise it with gels?
something else?

TIA

Oops. Should have read through my message before sending. 😊
It’s the ‘nail’ that is split,
It’s caught at the ‘side’

A temporary fix would be a teabag and nail glue. Just cut a thin strip and stick it down, wait for it to dry and you can buff to make it smooth. I'd get an overlay done in a salon. You could just have that one done if you wanted.

I'd clip it as short as you possibly can and file down the side bit as much as possible to make it smoother to reduce chance of it catching anything.

Nails grow fast so just keep filing and clipping until the damaged part is gone. The teabag trick would give some temporary protection too.

Thank you both. Tea bag huh?
Who knew? 😂😂
