Really large perm rods?

I'm going to perm my own hair I realise that's likely insane, let's gloss over that where can I buy really large perm rods? I live rurally so ideally online

I can't seem to find big enough ones on Amazon and I was loose rather than tight curls

Let me know how it goes, I was googling loose curl perms yesterday (no way in hell I'm doing it myself though, good luck)!

If you use the rods, try them out over night/around 24 hours with wet hair and strong setting solution first. Because what you get when you first take them off is pretty much what you'll be fighting every day, mainly because they're exactly the same barrel size as perming rollers.

Or, be sensible and go to a hairdresser who knows what you're talking about and can persuade you not to do it.

I'm a veteran of home perm kits. My mother even took a hairdressing course to make sure she did it right. I suppose that as my hair didn't fall out, she did do OK in that sense.

I'll try a setting lotion. I'm currently sleeping in rags 3x a week, I just want something easier and I'm absolutely not sitting in the hairdressers for hours while it sets - I just couldn't stand it.

Dont do it! You will seriously regret it, how do i know? Because i bought a perm solution and big rods ( grey ones) tried the rod just wet on one section and got a lovely spiral curl, tried to put them in all over just wet and could barely manage to get them in uniformly, dried and got a load of frizz, decided not to go ahead then a week later decided to just perm a couple of curls in the front to help with my scrunched loose curl style. Big mistake, Huge, turned out uncurly with seriously frazzled ends wish i left it alone, perm solution is now in the bin. E bay sell rods by the way, think brown are the biggest good luck but i think you are mad 😁

ps when my hair recovers i am going back to my babyliss curl secret, best easiest curling gadget

Ah thanks @AnchorWHAT - I just hate grooming, I used to have a perm as a teenager and I literally would just scrunch and go. My hair looks terrible un-styled now so I figure how much worse can it be!

Curl secret doesn't work for me, I have ridiculously thick hair- it just literally did nothing (plus truthfully it's too much effort for me)

Maybe you will be lucky then, i had perms in my young days so was gutted my plan didn't work, i might think about going to a salon in future but for now i will continue deep conditioning and scrunching 😟 if you do go ahead practice getting the rods in, they are not as easy as you might think, or better still get some help, if you have thick hair you will need loads as you have to curl in fairly small sections so the solution gets right through all the hair so bear that in mind. Also remember to use end papers, cotton wool and an old towel.
