Foundation for pale skin

HelloCanYouHearMe · 28/04/2022 09:59

I'm really struggling to find a good colour match with my foundation, so thought i'd throw this out to you all for some advice.

I'm very pale with cool undertones, currently wearing MAC Studio Fix in NW10 and its just a tad too pink looking.

I've tried No7 Hydralumious in Porcelain and its even darker than the MAC. NARS Sheer Glow in Siberia is too yellow (not to mention looks dreadful on and transfers at the slightest touch)

Is there anything else worth a try? I was wondering if the MAC in NC10 might be worth a short or possibly the Fenty blurring skin tint (shade 1)?

Don't want to spend more than £30

Fit Me! that should say

Innocenta · 28/04/2022 16:39

The Ordinary oxidises badly on me.

I also use, at various times, Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away foundation in '0 Fair' and Pixi H2O skin tint in 'porcelain'. I am someone who always likes to sheet out my foundation, though, and a bit prone to mixing foundations / creating my own blends with a moisturiser or liquid highlighter. So I can't 100% vouch for the paleness!

Innocenta · 28/04/2022 16:39

*sheer not sheet!

cushionedwell · 28/04/2022 16:42

I am also ghostlike!
and always end up going back to Chanel! it is expensive but 15 pc off at the moment in john lewis i think.
it lasts for ages as well i wear it daily and also I find the chanel staff are not very pushy so you can take your time.
I do like double wear but find it very drying

Clinique superbalanced porcelain is perfect and worth a try.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 28/04/2022 19:59

Fenty!! I have exactly the same problem. I’m very fair but very cool and I find all pale foundations are way to pinkish for me or they oxidise like a bugger.

I’m 120 in Fenty which surprised me but it suits me perfectly.

I went and got colour matched by the loveliest fella at Harvey Nicks in Brum. He even gave me a wee sample to take and try so if you can get to a Harvey Nicks it’s definitely worth it.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 28/04/2022 20:01

Estee Lauder Double Wear in Shell.

I'm going make up shopping at the weekend as I'm finding it a bit heavy as I get older.... Watch this space! 😂

Try this website www.ilmakiage.com/uk/powermatch-me?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Search%20-%20Foundation%20Generic_wult-uk%20Broad&utm_content=12803025518_120707215669&utm_term=foundation__b__m__1007274&cid=googlebuy&gclid=CjwKCAjw9qiTBhBbEiwAp-GE0QM8GSo5vZF5v3nP6FwlTYXbVjgduaozoFF8t2NGCIArU1lt0NXmBhoCGscQAvD_BwE

You take a survey and they match your colour its amazing I have light skin and the foundation I wear is brillant. But don't buy off the site you can get your match on ebay for half the price which I do

I'll be in Brum at the end of the May so I can absolutely get myself to Harvey Nicks!

How do you find ilmakiage @abblie ? I read some reviews that said whilst it was nice initially, by the end of the day it doesnt look so great?

I second the Rimmel Light Porcelain recommendation above! I have oily skin and I’m pleasantly surprised at the coverage and finish of their foundations, given the price.

I also love Tarte’s Amazonian Clay foundation and Shape Tape. I got matched to the “fair beige” shade (which wasn’t even the lightest shade in their range!) when I went to a Sephora in the US a few years ago and stock up every time I’m over there now. They have a good shade finder on their website.

NYX do super pale foundation with varying undertones! I dont wear foundation really but i use their concealers religiously because im super pale, they've just released a serum concealer thats great - also highly recomend their green concealer for any red spots etc. Definitely worth a go, maybe read through the reviews on Boots to see how theysit for your skin type.

Innocenta · 28/04/2022 21:31

I also highly recommend the Reddit sub, r/PaleMUA for further ideas. It can be a little overwhelming at first but it's a fab resource and a place where you can even request swatches as the community is so large.

I always put primer on 1st and it always looks fine well I think it does lol maybe if you took the quiz you might be able to.compare their shade match with other brands ? But in my opinion this has been the best shade match for me and I've been using it past few years

Hyggeandhugs · 29/04/2022 00:17

The Touche Eclat foundation by YSL in BR05... lighter than any other I've found

Ratonastick · 29/04/2022 08:33

I am also practically blue and have wasted more money than I care to think about on foundation. The best I ever had was a Chanel Vitalumiere which then went to duty free only and now seems to be non existent. I took the plunge a couple of months ago and went to Space NK and tested everything. They were unbelievably helpful and I faffed about for about an hour. The best match was a NARS one, with a Laura Mercier in close second. Cost more than £30 but cheaper than buying one then throwing it out after a fortnight for being too orange and having to start again.

Blogdog · 29/04/2022 08:42

I’ve tried many of the foundations mentioned above and they’re all a shade too dark for me! I currently use Stila Stay all Day in Porcelain. I used use a Bobbi Brown one but can’t remember the shade. It was great colour wise but the coverage was too light for my uneven skin.

Zeldaaa · 29/04/2022 10:45

if Mac Nw10 is too pink then nc10 might work for you.

I found this comparison picture on Reddit, also has Fenti 120 which someone else here recommended www.reddit.com/r/PaleMUA/comments/bkxkev/fenty_120_top_next_to_mac_nc10_middle_and_nw10/

I use Mac NC10 but other shades that work for me are Estée Lauder doublewear 1N0. I use it with a damp beauty blender so it’s not as heavy.

my favourite at the moment is Lisa Eldridge. I use shade 4, but shades 2-5 would have all worked for me. 1 was a bit too ghostly

SocksAndTheCity · 29/04/2022 10:59

I have Urban Decay Hydromaniac in shade 10 which is good, although very light so no use to anybody who wants more cover.

Unfortunately I'm still mourning the Barbara Daly Porcelain one they used to sell in Tesco and I've never found another that perfect🙁

SocksAndTheCity · 29/04/2022 11:03

I should have said I'm also NC10 in MAC but Studio Fix is too heavy for me Smile

HelloCanYouHearMe · 29/04/2022 11:37

Thanks for the link @Zeldaaa It's interesting to see those 3 lined up next to each other. The NC10 looks like it might be a good match

@SocksAndTheCity I didnt even think about Urban Decay (love their lip glosses), will have a look on their website now!
