Birkenstocks - worth paying the extra for the soft footbed?

I'm about to invest in my first pair (some Arizona's). It's a tenner extra for the soft footbed. I've only ever tried on the standard one, and am ordering online so can't try before I buy.
Should I go for it?

If you are ordering from the birkenstock website they do free returns, I order a couple of pairs, try them at home then send back what I don't want. I've never tried the soft footbed though, I find the originals pretty comfy.

Do you mean the soft foot bed in particular or any Birkies? I've tried standard ones on.

I thought that the first time I tried them on in my proper size (38), and then sized down to a 37 and they were all of a sudden magically comfortable. Over the years I've had a few pairs. They give good support compared to most sandals, but make sure they're also on tight enough cause you can get blisters on the upper part of your foot from rubbing. Also, I have very sweaty feet and love them cause I don't slide around in them, and they never smell.

OP I have both the normal and the soft bed ones. Get the soft bed.

I’ve got both. Prefer the regular foot bed. I don’t hate the soft footbed, mind. Just prefer the regular.

I size down too. I’m normally a 37, my Birkenstocks are a 36 and fit perfectly.

Mine stink. I have throw them away after a year of heavy use!
