Looking for summery work shoes with closed toe.

I have horrible toes and our work policy is that our toes need to be covered. I am looking for shoes / sandals that I can wear with dresses / trousers etc. I saw some nice ones that were cream sling backs, sort of raffia stuff but they dont seem to be on the river island website which is where i think they were from. I also like ballet flats but think they are just too flat. Anyone seen anything nice? Thanks

Leather Mules

Just did a very quick search on the Next website and these might also be suitable?

I bought these. I’m not a fan of ‘shoes’. I’m a boots person. These are incredibly comfy. So much a bought a second spare pair - something I often do when I find a perfect solution! They kind of fit our dress code and I wore them with skirts, trousers etc. Really opened up my summery outfit options:

I tend to go for ugly but comfy shoes such as Reiker style 41376. They are very lightweight leather so not too hot but have a well sprung sole if you are on your feet a lot.

I am also a boots person. I bought R&Bs version of these three years ago and they work with everything - they were worth it. Slightly updated now, mine have a small gold plate across the toe. I love them. Incredibly comfortable but smart too. They don’t look ‘beachy’.

… I am a also trying to find a loafer / mule type shoe to wear in summer but I hate giving up my ankle boots!

Watching with interest as have horrible toes too that I really don't want to show off in open toe sandals but desperately need some comfortable summer shoes!

Starryskiesinthesky · 27/04/2022 22:16

Sorry I completely forgot about this (I am blaming covid as I am off with it just now)!

Thanks @LookItsMeAgain for posting all those links. I should have said I can’t do slip on / mules - not sure what it is but the effort to keep my feet in and walk is too much!

I did like some of them and am thinking I will go into M&S when I am out of isolation.

I also liked some of the other ones and also managed to find the river island ones that I liked but are too flat. Will post them next!

Those ropey ones though. What if it rains - are they any better than the Espadrilles I used to buy in Goldie in the 80s? One shower and they were a soggy unrecoverable pair of shredded wheats! I loved them though - especially my orange ones ❤️
