Ooh something I've noticed about jeans!

Lots of new and varied fits now, which is great, even my fave mid rise made a return, so something for all of us!

I don't wear jeans very often but keep a few pairs in the wardrobe. Had a trying on session today, taking stock of things, and gave the jeans a go. And noticed something I hadn't before : jeans that are wider at the calf/ankle make me look shorter and slightly wider over all.
Compared to some old skinnies I tried on this difference was really something.

At the end of the day there's nothing wrong with looking shorter or wider, but I suppose it depends how you'd like your silhouette to be. I always imagined I looked wider in skinnies, and thought a looser ankle 'balanced you out' but since comparing the looser fit to skinnies the exact opposite surprised me!

We are all built so differently that my post is possibly bollocks, but has anyone noticed the same?

Yes this is me! I am slim generally but skinnies make me look very slim and elongate my leg whilst wider leg jeans make me look wider and I'd say 'dumpier'. It's partly because I have very short legs relative to my body. I also don't tend to tuck things in as it emphasises this so I have less shape with wider jeans.

I was trying to move away from skinnies in a bid to be more fresh and fashionable but keep going back to them as they are just so flattering and practical too. I think potentially they do balance out a bigger chest (have one of these) though but by now I have plenty of ways to disguise mine whilst also wearing skinnies.

Glad it's not just me!
I have some slim fit jeans which are a slight bit bagger at the ankle and i look completely different in them. I definitely look shorter, which isn't a negative, but still contrary to what many people consider flattering.

I also tried some old slim fit bootcut and looked very stumpy. I am slim so wft?

@TheOGCCL But no no! don't disguise your chest, I wish I had one! I make up for this with vibrantly patterened socks Grin

Totally the opposite for me which I'm sure is because of different body shapes. I'm slender on top but with chunkier legs. Skinnies just overemphasise that and make me look weirdly out of proportion, and shorter and wider. By contrast a looser style balances me out somehow, I think by allowing for some drape, and can make me look longer and more slender. Interesting isn't it!

I’ve got chunky legs and I’ve never found any skinny or slim cut jeans to go over them!

Generally I’m a size 12 but to get skinny jeans they’d have to be a 16 and then gaping around my waist.
