Nice travel bag

I'm after a tote bag that I can use as carry on, (put under seats etc), keep all the kids' crap in and a change of clothes in, but that still looks somewhat stylish and put together. I have backpacks, but I can't be arsed taking them off my back to get snacks out for the kids and me every 30 seconds.

I see a lot of people with the LV monogram bags used in this way - y'know what I mean, wafting through an airport with a pashmina - but I can't afford one, and I don't think that monogram/overt label look is very 'me'.

Any recommendations? Bonus if it's not (real) leather...

Tripp do nice luggage and always have offers on

I've seen some tote backpacks which can be worn/carried different ways - would that work for you OP?

kitkatcrunch · 25/04/2022 16:18

I've had a case from there before and it was nice - just had a look at their totes, but maybe I'm looking for something more 'big handbag' in style, as they look very luggage-y.

Potentially yes, if it would fit in all the things!

Either a longchamp le pliage which are fairly indestructible and I think look casual and stylish, or what I did was go onto ebay and got a Russell and Bromley leather tote, looks like it was never used and cost me £50. Beautiful thick supple leather and its not the sort of brand people are searching for on there.

I got this shoulder bag with matching cabin case. The bag slips onto the trolley case handle and I love it 😍. Just arrived yesterday and I can't wait to use it!

Longchamps all the way. Le pilage

GettingStuffed · 25/04/2022 20:09

Sophie Allport oundle bag. Mine's pale grey with ballerina flamingos and I'm regularly asked where I bought it. They're oilcloth so waterproof. You'll need the large though

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 25/04/2022 20:33

Longchamp Le Pliage is the perfect bag imo . Light, washable, zip fastening, lots of colours, fits under plane seat…

Do you not have a bunch of large attractive large totes that came as free gifts with purchase on beauty products? I assumed that everyone on S&B must have more of them than they know what to do with. All my weekend luggage is GWPs, either from beauty counters or from my DPs who are dedicated Cotton Trader shoppers (the latter are less stylish but still handy).

Funnily enough, I don't! I have a Doc Martens cotton tote bag that I use all the time and open shopper type things...

I think I want something more of a structured handbag.

@GettingStuffed Ooh, I like those - peacock one is pretty...

@travailtotravel @FormerlySpeckledyHen I hear this recommendation a lot, just googled it and it is nice! It looks very simple, so I wouldn't be drawn to it initially, but simple goes with everything.

@Ohsugarhoneyicetea I love it. I wish it zipped though...

@kitkatcrunch it folds up. Its roomy - I use packing cubes/pouches to organise stuff. Will take you anywhere. Loads of colours. I've probably had about 5 years out of mine so far.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 25/04/2022 22:03

Le Pliage or Gweneth tote for me. Both cavernous but lightweight and can be squished up to fit in overhead lockers or under a seat.

DSGR · 25/04/2022 22:25

Le Pliage of course, they withstand all travel
