Step up from a Tinted Moisturiser

Late 50’s and am currently wearing a tinted moisturiser as a base ( Nars) . Not a big makeup wearer and have always beloved “less is more” as you age.
Anybody any suggestions for anything with slightly more coverage?

Try BB or CC creams instead - I'm sure someone will be along with some good suggestions of ones to try shortly!

WellTidy · 25/04/2022 12:07

I would really recommend Clarins Even Better Glow for this. More coverage than my Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser, but very very light. If you try it, make sure you really shake the bottle and be prepared for it being runny.

Crikeyalmighty · 25/04/2022 12:11

The Finnish brand lumene is very good

nearlyspringyay · 25/04/2022 12:12

I'm 45 and foundation just doesn't work, I've got L'Oréal's C'est Magic BB cream and love it. It's white and adapts to your skin tone, is light and has a lovely texture.

And it's only a tenner.

Dspx · 25/04/2022 12:13

I use n07 drops of foundation you add it to your usual moisturiser or primers so you can adjust the amount you add for different occasions building up the level of coverage

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/04/2022 12:13

I use the Trinny London BFF cream. It's fabulous

learieonthewildmoor · 25/04/2022 16:35

Nars Glow Foundation is a step up from tinted moisturiser. More coverage but still a natural look.

DanceForMeColin · 25/04/2022 16:41

@nearlyspringyay is that the bb or the cc cream- the bb cream looks like it comes in different shades?

OP I really like the Typology tinted serums, they are lightweight and don’t sit in fine lines. Tinted serum.

DanceForMeColin · 25/04/2022 16:43

I don't know what happened to my link there

Joyfulflowers · 25/04/2022 16:52

I can highly recommend Erborian cc cream here - can also buy from Boots, Space NK & few other places.

It comes out of the tube white but then changes to match skin tone but giving a smooth almost flawless finish.

Am a similar age to you @LunaTheCat and totally agree less is more at this stage.

Joyfulflowers · 25/04/2022 16:54

Oh, my link disappeared I'll have another go erborian

ethelredonagoodday · 25/04/2022 16:56

Following for reccs.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 25/04/2022 17:00

I use Erborian Ginseng BB cream. It feels very nice on, doesn't move/go patchy. I'm pretty dry and I think it's moisturising. A little goes a long way too.

anchorbuttercakes · 25/04/2022 17:05

Big fan of the nars tinted moisturiser too, I’ve been using a Dior one during the winter , recommended by Sali Hughes , Dior Forever Skin Natural Nude - google her reviews. It’s just a touch more coverage than the nars

myveryloudsun · 25/04/2022 17:08

Milk sunshine tint

Oblomov22 · 25/04/2022 17:23

Reading. I need this now.

roundedbrush · 25/04/2022 17:27

I still use my tinted moisturiser but I mix it with an over the counter rimmell foundation. Foundation does nothing for me these days. I am 51.

whoturnedthesunoff · 25/04/2022 17:40

No 7 Intelligent Colour - I have medium

Absolutely love it , never feels heavy but certainly evens out my craggy old face

AnyCakeButBattenburg · 25/04/2022 17:51

DanceForMeColin I just tried your link and did the online test for my skin type. It recommends a series of products, at a total of £124............ Ooh, I think I'll have to give that a miss.

User1113 · 25/04/2022 19:21

Another vote for Erborian BB cream. Better coverage than the CC cream but not patchy or cakey at all

MrsSkylerWhite · 25/04/2022 19:24

I never use foundation, looks cakey and false however I apply it.
i use frezyderm tinted sunscreen. Lovely, natural finish (apply with a brush) covers well and gives protection to boot. Brilliant product.

Deline · 25/04/2022 21:32

Also here to recommend Erborian BB creme! I got it direct from them. A little goes a long way, much better coverage than tinted moisturiser but a lot less than foundation and it goes on easy, just a blob on fingertips and rub in like moisturiser.

This is what I do, too... mix foundation with moisturiser!

Thank you everybody !
I knew you would come up trumps.
I used to use Laura Mercier before they changed the formulation.
Nars tinted moisturiser is very sheer - too sheer.
I have never heard of Erobian - will hunt it out.
