Bikini waxing

I've had my bikini line waxed numerous times, but I always feel like I'd have liked a bit more off the underside.

I don't want everything gone completely, but how does your waxer get right in to the nooks and crannies?

Would this be a complete knickers off situation? I can't be doing with that.

Thanks!

Well when you go for a Hollywood or Brazilian it is either knickers off or you wear the disposable ones. Mine offer a high bikini which may be what you are looking for.

idontknowdoi · 24/04/2022 12:33

And what's the difference between knickers off and wearing the disposable ones? Do you still take the disposables off at some point to let her get at everything?

It will certainly help if you take your knickers off.

HeadToToesNo · 24/04/2022 12:53

I've never understood the point of keeping your knickers on when getting a wax, why do you do it?

I suppose so! I guess I just wondered if they moved them around enough without taking them off completely 🙈

@HeadToToesNo because I just don't like the idea of someone seeing my bits in their entirety.

I have a Hollywood wax at a studio that does nothing but waxing. You wear disposable knickers and they just move parts out of the way as they wax. TBH I can't see the point and would be happy with no knickers but it only takes 10 minutes anyway.

I've always wanted a wax but never plucked up the courage!
How much does it cost and how often do you need to go (aware this will differ)

I haven't been for ages, but I think for my bikini, underarms and full leg I was about £36?

If I was going regularly, I'd need to go every three weeks. I'm follicly fertile Sad

Just a bikini was is £12 where I go. When you wear the disposable knickers they move it to get to the bits they need but they see it all anyway. Hot wax is 100% the way to go although most places don’t offer strip wax for intimate waxing anymore.

MaryB90 · 24/04/2022 14:32

I'm booked in for a Hollywood wax before my holiday, can you tell me if it causes bruising please? 🙂

tealandteal · 24/04/2022 14:35

I’ve never had bruising, if they use hot wax the redness fades much quicker as well. If your wax is the day before you leave then I would imagine it will have settled down before you even leave, especially if you follow their guidelines about how long to wait before hot baths etc.

MummaOf4Horrors · 24/04/2022 14:47

Thanks op
Another question-
Going away back end of May- how soon prior to going would you get a wax? And would it last the 2 weeks (wishful thinking I imagine!)
Also, does it leave you 'pimply' like a shave does? Does the re growth itch too!?
I'm going to give it a shot and see how it is- got to be worth a shot

Autumnwater · 24/04/2022 14:58

I’m getting mine done a week before I go away but this is more due to their availability otherwise would have waited a bit more. I go every 6 weeks usually and I’m probably hair free for about 4 so a week before holiday would be fine for me and would have settled. No bruising but I can get a bit of a rash but have sensitive skin. I used to be embarrassed about getting my knickers off but they do it everyday all day (mine is majority intimate waxing) I genuinely don’t think they care make sure your fresh

Undies off where I used to go.

During lockdown, I learnt how to do a Brazilian wax (helps to be flexible), and bought professional wax equipment. It's brilliant to do from home once a month.

I have always been prone to ingrown hairs from any type of hair removal and I have to 1) Exfoliate as prep 2) Use a special ingrown hair cream before and after wax

Hepherlous · 24/04/2022 15:06

If you want a bit more off without it being a Brazilian/Hollywood you could try a g-string/thong wax OP. Whether it's own pants or the papers ones, they just move them around (I've never felt comfortable with no pants) . Hot wax is less painful than strips and any redness is usually gone within an hour.

SillySallySassySausage · 24/04/2022 15:13

After any sort of waxing or shaving, I apply a bit of sudocrem over the red areas, not thickly - just a dab. I find it really helps stop the irritation before it even appears. I think it really helps calm the area and with the red bumps you sometimes get.
I can't not do it now!
