Where to get a good quality v-neck white tshirt?

My quest for the perfect white tshirt is failing. I want something that's not see-through, not boxy or oversized, v-neck but not a huge deep v! and will hold its shape after being washed a few times. I've been disappointed with M&S and others, the tshirt being too thin or too boxy etc. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm quite small frame so don't want anything too big (the one from COS is too big for example, it's an 'oversized' design).

Last time I did a quest for T-shirts I bought loads of brands online and I kept the ones from Uniqlo- that was 7 years ago, so may have changed since then. The T-shirts are still holding up.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 22/04/2022 09:46

I hadn't thought of Uniqlo! thanks I'll take a look now.

I bought lovely ones last summer from gap. They washed great as well and you've just reminded me now I need to restock.

FelicityFlops · 22/04/2022 11:33

I got some very good ones from Esprit, but in 2011, I think.
They are exactly as you describe (97% cotton 3% elastane) wash well and the v is not too deep.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 22/04/2022 12:56

I've ordered one from Uniqlo and two from Gap. Will be near an Esprit at the weekend so will go in person and check them out too. Thanks all Smile

Arket very good but possibly a little boxy.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 22/04/2022 18:39

No v-necks on Arket!

These tees are extraordinary expensive but I have a round neck which has lasted and held its shape nicely to the extent that I would buy another when the time comes to replace it. There’s usually a 20% off voucher code too.

You could try mens t-shirts. Much thicker fabric and don't have a massive v neck. I got a couple from Primark.

Perfectlystill · 23/04/2022 00:21

I got a nice one at Petit Bateau. Size up though - those French women are small!

PAFMO · 23/04/2022 06:14

I've just ordered one from M&S to see- the doesmybumlook40 journalist recommended it. It's M&S collection so about £15 iirc.
I ordered from Uniqlo after seeing them recommended on here- and they were awful- not awful as in poor quality- but the supima cotton had an odd sheen to it and the t shirts themselves were too long, the V combined with the length and finish made them look like undervests.
I've been looking at Esprit for basics. I'm nowhere near one so come back and tell us!

The reason she recommends M&S is because she works for them and is paid to recommend their stuff!

www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk/products/tops-tees/item/cotton-v-neck Kettlewell- expensive but quality is very good.

RampantIvy · 23/04/2022 08:06

I spotted some on the Mango website. I have no idea of quality though.

Ariela · 23/04/2022 08:25

If you don't want too fitted, and need length, mens Tshirts are better quality, thicker and cut longer

Is it? Because I was shocked at the prices and wondered if they washed and kept their shape or were just the same as every other tee but marketed at higher prices.

rookiemere · 23/04/2022 08:55

@gingerhills I've just bought a few things from them - I guess I was prepared to pay a bit more for the gorgeous colours, but it does seem to be noticeably higher quality than the high street - and so it should be at twice the price I guess.

Very Good quality..but I haven't ordered white myself.

PlatinumBrunette · 23/04/2022 09:23

I’m on a similar quest - not white though.
Kettlewell I’ve found dreadful in the past - washing makes them turn short and square.

Schools2023 · 23/04/2022 09:27

Gap tall ones are great, nice and long

I have these and they're lovely

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 23/04/2022 12:25

That Superdry one looks too thin, and there's almost a pattern on it?
The Kettlewell ones look good but I'd need an XS and they don't do it in that tshirt.
Mens T-shirts would be no good as I'm quite small and don't want anything oversized or baggy.
The M&S collection one was ok size wise (I got the 6) but was disappointingly thin and I really didn't think it would hold its shape after washing so I returned it.
I'll be out shopping tomorrow so will be able to check some other options in real life! I'll come back and update when I've (hopefully) got the ideal tshirt Smile
