Is my hair cut a rip off?

I get a mobile hairdresser to do my hair, every five/six weeks. We alternate between a roots appt and a full cut/roots session. The roots costs me £40 and the cut/colour session costs £75.

I dry my own hair (although this is because I offer, he would dry my hair if I asked). When it's just a roots appt I say I'm more than happy for them to leave the colour on and I wash it out myself, leaving them some time before their next appt.

Is this comparable to what I'd pay in a salon? My pal is aghast at how much I pay for what I get.

I pay the same amount in a salon but get a rough dry as well for the same price. A blow dry would add an extra £10 onto the cost. I also get my hair washed after the colour has developed. Your mobile hairdresser's prices seem a bit steep for the service that you get.

I think that's quite high, the hairdresser should be washing off your colour and a quick rough dry really for that amount

Are happy with him? if so I would stick with him, good hairdressers are worth their weight in gold, you could pay more or less in salon and have your hair ruined.

Similar price to what I pay in a salon for the same services. However, you aren't getting your "moneys worth" as you are telling him not to bother with some elements, I would especially resent missing the blow-dry as I love a professional blow-dry.

It's hard to comment on if it is good value as I don't know his skill set and experience, in my salon a junior cut and dry is £42 and top guy is £75, so it would depend on where your hairdresser is on that range.

I agree with PP that if you are happy with him, and can afford it, I would stick as you may be less happy with someone at a salon for the same amount, I have had disappointing experiences at good salons.

I get a full root retouch and highlights and lowlights and cut and blow for 78 in a salon, West Yorkshire.

I think that's too expensive. If you don't want to change hairdresser then at least take the service you are paying for and stop allowing him to do half a job.
