Christening outfit for big man

Skelligsfeathers · 19/04/2022 20:44

My son needs an outfit for a christening. All the other men will be dressed formally.

Problem is, he is 6'8 and built like a shed. Not fat but massive shoulders and arms

He is a student and on a tight budget and I can't afford to spend 100s.
So any ideas please?!

My husband is a big guy and 6ft4 and he often buys suits at Jacamo. It’s worth looking up some suit measuring guides to make sure you get a good fit.

Is he much of a suit wearer though? If he’s only wearing it once, maybe look at Moss Bros and hire one for the occasion. If I recall, they do a massive range of sizes, although you do need to order well in advance if you’re big or small!

My DS 6' 5 was godfather to his nephew in a Roman Catholic church just wore a short sleeved shirt and nice trousers. No-one wore a suit and somewhere even in jeans.

Agree re hiring it.

Smart shirt and chinos would be fine at any christening I’ve ever been to (including some v posh ones).

Trousers and a shirt are fine for a christening. Actually, nice jeans and a shirt would probably be fine at most christenings.

Yeah, maybe we will go down the shirt and trousers road.
Jacamo doesn't tend to be long enough unfortunately.
