Pack away padded jacket with no hood.

Does anyone know where I can find one of these?

It is for Dd, 11, to have in her school bag for colder days, so it needs to be light and pack into its own little storage bag, but I ideally want to get it before our holiday at half term so she can use it then.

Dd is absolutely adamant she doesn’t want a hood, but every single one we have found so far comes with a hood.

Ideally we want age 11/12, but women’s size 6 might also work.

The cheaper the better - dd1 had a perfect one from Primark a few years back, which is still going strong, but I couldn’t see any last time I was there.

Uniqlo

I remember Dunnes having them a few years ago.

But yes, Uniqlo.

Thedishonthecoffeetable · 19/04/2022 15:11

I bought one in Primark a couple of weeks ago, so they do still do them. Lightly padded, no hood, with a little bag to put it in.

Ooh, really Thedishonthecoffeetable? I will have to look in Primark again.

I just looked at the coats in Uniqlo, the ones in the women’s section are indeed just what I want but a bit more expensive than I was hoping.
I suppose if it is an adult size it should last her all the way through secondary school, but still a bit pricy.

The Polarn O. Pyret are fantastic and they can be bunged in the washing machine without much thought. I am just about to replace some of mine - we hand them die through the kids. Unfortunately only available in navy blue this year though, for some reason.

PS I had a similar one from Uniqlo myself and it didn’t even survive a gentle hand wash.

Uniqlo bomber jacket type. I have light grey and it's brilliant. Women's XS should work

Wehadabetamax · 19/04/2022 17:29

I saw some in my local Primark today.

Daisy62 · 19/04/2022 17:35

I have one from M & S (I think they do a size 6) and I didn't realise until recently that it has a lightweight hood, as it's zipped into the collar. Mine doesn't have a bag so I put it in one I had lying around from an old jacket (you can also get those bags at MUJI).
