Whyyyy do all swimming costumes need to leave your bits hanging out??

I'm not tall (5"5ish) but every costume I try on the body is far too short.

Please tell me where I should be looking?

Size 16 if it make a difference

I love the idea of men's shorts. Unfortunately my arse / upper thigh is massively wide but waist not in proportion with the massivest arse in the whole wide world and I don't think I'd get any to fit.

glebaisaword · 01/05/2022 18:09

I know this is a zombie, but for the recent posters, Landsend have women's swim shorts that are like loose board shorts but with internal bikini bottom bit in so no weird mesh or size strangeness like if you were trying to get men's shorts. They are great, very comfy. I usually take an 18 in swimwear bottoms but they are generous so size down.

BuanoKubiamVej · 01/05/2022 18:13

Search for the term "Boyleg swimsuit women" and you get swimming costumes that go a couple of inches down the top of the thighs. I don't shave or wax and I prefer to make sure everywhere that pubic hair grows naturally is covered up rather than on display.

FayCarew · 01/05/2022 18:26

I don't have a problem but it has to have some bust support. Next ones are usually good

Ah brilliant thanks. I was just looking for swimming costumes earlier and was very frustrated by the lack of proper swimming skirts or shorts that aren't skin tight. My thighs aren't what they were, and they weren't ever up to much, so the skin tight shorts are probably not an option.

I bought from Lyra Swimwear and highly recommend. I hate my body after having DS and feel liberated since buying one of these, it's basically a two piece wetsuit with detachable skirt for extra coverage. Never going back to a cozzie!

Dreamingof3 · 01/05/2022 21:15

@Goodbyecustardtart had a complete nightmare tbh 🤣 sent about 8 back. Even ordered from long tall Sally and still had half my c section shelf on display 🙄

@RockAndRollerskate that's what i might resort to!

I have a very basic black costume from yours that I had to size up in but has good coverage.

I've got a dhb legsuit from either Wiggle or Decathlon (had it a while, can't remember). Cost me about twenty quid.

The new MN site set up has done a real classy job of my link there...😂

Jelly0naplate · 01/05/2022 23:14

Lands end do a women's board shorts with a sewn in bikini bottom section, with pockets and fairly quick drying. I originally bought some for the beach but no where them in the swimming pool as well with a tankini top.

Jelly0naplate · 01/05/2022 23:15

Ah just seen it was already mentioned about the board shorts, another vote for those then!

HeadPain · 01/05/2022 23:32

why men's shorts ?search on Amazon for women's swim/swimming shorts. rash vests iv had from surfdome.

HeadPain · 01/05/2022 23:34

U can get swimming leggings too

catsonahottinroof · 01/05/2022 23:39

Those Boden ones look a bit skimpy and low cut for me. I was going to say the boyshorts swimsuit too, Sports Direct have one but I haven't ordered it yet so can't comment on sizing. I like the idea of a bikini top with men's shorts, though, it might not be very good for exercise swimming (though men manage ok, don't they) but ideal for holidays and sea swimming.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/05/2022 23:45

Land’s End do many of their swim suits in a “long” fit. It’s just a size option on the normal listing, not a specific range.

@Benjispruce4 thanks so much for mentioning the website. I had never heard of it before - some fab pieces

Benjispruce4 · 18/05/2022 19:58

Ah great. They’re reasonable too.

thehillswerebright · 18/05/2022 20:04

I have the one in the photo (that hopefully with attach) it's from SHEIN, the top goes right down past my hips

Leftbutcameback · 25/05/2022 12:51

@Benjispruce4 have you got any feedback on sizes from WalkonBeach? Im a UK size 12 and the size info in inches suggests that's XL, but US sizes suggest it's a medium

Benjispruce4 · 26/05/2022 06:56

Oh hi, just seen this I’m a 10/12 but always order a 12 in swimwear as they’re not usually generous. Haven’t ordered from them for a while but would have followed their size guide.

Pinkmagic1 · 26/05/2022 07:03

I am very self conscious of my legs and backside, so wear swimming leggings with a bikini top. If on holiday somewhere warm, I sometimes wear a pair of DH's swimming trunks instead of the leggings.

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 26/05/2022 07:17

I recently got one from Bonmarche, acres of fabric to cover my arse.
