How shall I have my hair?

Excuse the greasy hair and it’s not usually as flat!

I’m getting my hair done for my birthday on Friday. I’ve been growing it long for my wedding that has been cancelled 3 times over the past 2 years! I’ve got a 6 month old, have put on weight and generally feel blah! I’m still hoping to get married this year and want hair below my shoulders so nothing too short but need inspiration!

It’s fairly thick usually but I’m shedding a lot post birth. Was very straight but developed a wave when I was pregnant (this is it after rough drying a few days ago). Naturally blonde but have highlights every so often to lift it a bit (having them done with the cut).

Needs to be not too high maintenance.

Ps. Ignore the conjunctivitis, probably not helping me feel less crap!

maybe a sorta(not super tight)spiral perm.?is real easy care,n add sorta volume,n easy care\effortless?

SuperPug · 18/04/2022 21:47

I honestly think it looks great as it is.
At the hairdresser’s, I would probably get them to do a big/bouncy blow dry or similar. Length and colour is lovely.

Qwill · 18/04/2022 21:47

I like a long bob all one length below shoulders for low maintenance. I would maybe go for some lowlights to break up the dark roots and light ends (also will make maintenance easier - vital with a baby 😂).

SuperPug · 18/04/2022 21:48

I should add that twice I’ve had my hair cut (now same length as yours) and I’ve regretted it on both occasions. It wasn’t easier to look after and it looked worse when put in an up do or similar

Thanks. That’s how I usually have it like that (pic of last cut). Before I started growing it for the wedding I used to change it up lots so i guess I’m just bored and fancy a change!

I wouldn’t rule it out one day but haven’t got a long enough session and some occasions coming up where I wouldn’t want to risk it!

It looks nice like it is. And baby is gorgeous! ♥️

Qwill · 18/04/2022 22:01

Yeah, I love a change too. My hair grows really quickly so I know if I don’t like it I don’t have too long to wait - not that I do anything too drastic! Sometimes I just experiment with the colour a bit for a change, change the shade slightly, could be an option. Or experiment with a different fringe if you want to stay the same length. I know how you feel, I always want to mix it up and don’t know what, but you might have something different and really love it - if you don’t, you can just tie it up and wait for it to grow out, or get it recut.

Thanks but I can’t go all one length because of the fringe bit and I don’t want to steer towards ‘mum Bob’ especially when it kinks in all directions!

Oops didn’t mean to put that up 😳

Don’t worry, you can ask for the photo to be removed!!

Yeah, I wasn’t really thinking ‘mum bob’, although not completely sure what that means! Was thinking more blunt cut with loose waves (especially as you’ve got a kink now). Didn’t realise the fringe was awkward. Maybe go for a shorter fringe?

Qwill · 18/04/2022 22:30

As a guide, more Alexa Chung when she had the loose long bob/blunt cut. She also had it with a fringe that looked good too.

I wouldn’t touch it - it’s gorgeous.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 19/04/2022 12:34

It's lovely hair, I'm so jealous! Don't do anything too drastic.

Blondbombsite · 19/04/2022 13:35

Thanks for the compliments. I do like my hair but I suppose I feel like it’s tied back 99.% of the time or it’s being pulled or puked in! Plus it’s usually thick so the hair loss makes me not feel as great as usual.
Plus there’s a niggle (the voice of my mum and Nan I think) telling me I’m too old to for long hair now!

What do we think of these styles to blunt the Ends up but not loose too much length?

Oh bollocks to people telling you you are too old for certain hair styles.

I'm 50 and I wear my hair similar to yours but it's sort of half up half down - see attached pic Smile

I also love those angled lobs you've just attached but they will require quite a bit of upkeep I'd imagine.

In all honesty it's beautiful as it is!

Your hit looks amazing. I love Half-dos. I know it’s bollocks really but sometimes thy inner voice lurks…
