Dress for a wedding

I am looking for a dress to wear to a wedding and possibly accessories. Am happy to spend up to £200 for the dress.

I am in my early forties, 5 foot 3, olive skinned with dark hair. A size 10 / 12 with a large bust but relatively athletic looking. I usually wear autumn colours.

I like dvf and Reiss dresses but am open to ideas.

Thanks Grin

Love the fabric but that neckline and my chest will not go well.

If I had the chest for it, I’d wear this. You’re athletic, show it off!

Or this (albeit sold out online in your size).

I was at a smart wedding on Saturday and very few people were wearing miserable flowy floral frocks. Far more fitted clothes and fashiony things like the dress I posted upthread.

I recently bought and wore this dress for a wedding. It is fabulous and I will not have anyone tell me otherwise. It has pockets for mini pepperami and babybels.

The party I wore it to was on the coast. The wind was blowing, the skirt was flapping, I had sunglasses on and felt like I was on a magazine shoot. It was glorious.

All I was missing was a massive navy blue floppy hat.

That Silkfred dress is fab. Floral but not a miserable frilly polyester sack.

Not sure how I ended up linking to a white dress. BTW…I meant the red version!

I did once buy a Silk Fred dress and wasn’t too impressed by the quality.

This Whistles dress might work or be a bit plain.

Ps I am more than happy to show off some leg / arm / cleavage. Maybe not too much but definitely not shy.

Have you had a look at monsoons wedding guest dresses?

Some of them are truly gorgeous www.monsoon.co.uk/wedding-occasion/wedding-party/wedding-guest-dresses-outfits/

The whistles dress is very “City break” rather than wedding

I was thinking it may be a be a bit too much of a holiday dress.

I think the Monsoon dresses weren’t really me.

@HalleLouja I have a hope and Ivy dress - if that dress is anything to go by the sizes come up
Large! It’s a lovely one!

Dress ordered. Just need to find some shoes to go with them.

Need a heel and no sandals (due to manky runners feet).

Late to this but 1) that hope and ivy dress was one I also considered but wasn't available in my size 2) so I ordered a yellow one from them but 3) it cut me badly across the boobs which was a massive shame because she was so subshiny and glorious and 4) the silk Fred dress I bought and wore is heavy- really good quality. The complete opposite of the leopard print one I bought a couple of years ago and was so so shit that I just cut the belt off and use it as a hair tie (yes, I am that bad at sending shit back)

HalleLouja · 22/04/2022 18:45

I have the Hope and Ivy dress and it’s not that nice in real life.

Have a look on Nancy Mac. They do beautiful dresses and I always get loads of compliments in mine!

Honestly if you like the look of the one I posted I can't recommend it enough- I too have been caught out with silk Fred but this dress is wonderful!
