I need a not too weddingy wedding dress - help?

I'm going to two weddings in August, one is a Midsummer Night's Dream fairy theme (they're extremely nice people, no judgement here) and one is mine.

I want something floaty and effortless that I can wear with trainers. The fairy one we're just going to the evening. Mine is tiny and secret and will just be DP, me and kids with a very fancy lunch after.

I'm short and wide. 5'1 and a size 20. I don't have pleasant legs and I don't want to wear tights so it needs to be maxi to the floor.

I quite like this www.freemans.com/products/monsoon-brenda-sustainable-maxi-dress/_/A-61H312_20?utm_source=GoogleProductList&utm_medium=PLA&utm_campaign=Womens_Dresses_BridalAndBridesmaidDresses&utm_content=61H312&ns_campaign=Womens_Dresses_BridalAndBridesmaidDresses&ns_mchannel=PLA&ns_source=GoogleProductList&ns_linkname=61H312&ns_fee=0&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKCAjw9e6SBhB2EiwA5myr9jD7ORKMwrkLgCp1bWxk0DPplvjdy0B6TlSnszJjwocAqEXupUjEbhoC-ckQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

And this. But I asked DP if I'd look like a sofa and he suggested I carry a gold cushion (he's lovely and hilarious, I do not need reposting in Relationships) www.freemans.com/products/together-butterfly-print-maxi-dress/_/A-18W738_10?PFM_rsn=searchresults&PFM_pge=recentlyViewed&PFM_lpn=2&PFM_psp=18W738&atREC=true

I'm not stuck on Freeman's. I've never bought from there, it's just what came up when I googled. Any other great suggestions very, very welcome.

Sadly agree abut the neckline situation. Though I may order one to try.

Budget is around £150 I guess. I'm only wearing it twice.

Freepeople have some LOVELY stuff. How do the sizes come up? I don't want to get too disappointed if they're teeny.

I'm using this as my notebook now. I like these.
What’s your budget? This is gorgeous but spendy! www.phase-eight.com/product/cherrie-embellished-tulle-maxi-dress-220419105.html#navAjax=true&is=false&cgid=dresses&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&prefn1=knee&prefv1=Maxi%7CMidaxi&prefn2=sleeve&prefv2=Long%20Sleeve&prefn3=size&prefv3=18%7C20%7C22&pid=220419105&pos=30

There are some other dress on there which might fit the bill, or what about a jumpsuit? www.phase-eight.com/product/mindy-chiffon-bodice-jumpsuit-220174085.html#isSecondPage=false&start=0&sz=60&is=false&cgid=dresses&prefn1=knee&prefv1=Maxi%7CMidaxi&prefn2=sleeve&prefv2=Long%20Sleeve&prefn3=size&prefv3=20%7C22&pid=220174085&pos=15
The Phase 8 dress is absolutely gorgeous. Probably a bit much in all senses.

The jumpsuit not what I want at all - but thank you!

I've only ever browsed there but it looks like more people say they fit big than small!!

I love the Coast one linked above in blush

Blush

I don’t think the high neck is an issue because of the meshy material over the v-neck.

above budget, but gorgeous

Monsoon 1

TheIsaacs · 22/04/2022 19:51

The Zoe dress from monsoon seems very fairy floaty. Or maybe a dress from hope&ivy

( I’ve just had a lovely time looking at the Monsoon catalogue on your behalf - they’ve got some gorgeous dresses)

DobbleDobble · 22/04/2022 21:28

I’ve bought mine from needle an thread.Go a larger size though as their dresses are a snug fit.
they do ballerina or maxi length.

Mmarmite · 02/05/2022 10:22

I love the Scarlett & Jo one best. Beautiful. I hope you’re wearing it to your wedding first before you wear it as a guest? You need the dress to feel special and new on your special day!

Blueink · 08/05/2022 16:18

Your first choice is the one - u will look beautiful

Oh no! It is actually the 'wrong' way round but I honestly don't mind. If I was a size 10 I'd do it in jeans and a nice top 😬
The fairy wedding just gives me an excuse to kill two birds with one stone.

How about these?

Greensleeves · 17/05/2022 18:47

This one's silk, so it's a bit pricier....
