Swimsuit woes

I haven't bought a swimsuit for myself for many years but we're going on holidays abroad this year (yay!) so I need to invest.
I'm 51, size 16 and pear shaped with a big tummy, post menopausal so my breasts have zero elasticity so would need support.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

I have Boden costume ms but they are expensive

M&S just don't fit me well and even when I go up a size they are too small.

I have bought 2 recently from Sainsbury’s. They fit well and are good value.

I have added a photo. This costume looks lovely. Good support. Comes with should straps. I wore it to death on my last holiday. It's great value too

Thanks for the recommendation. That Sainsbury's one is lovely but I'd be terrified without straps🙈
Which Boden one would you recommend? I don't mind spending on it- I'd rather buy once and well.

The Sainsbury’s one has detachable straps. They are not a halter neck and are really secure.

I've got a couple of older Boden ones but I don't know the names. They had some decent ones in clearance so worth a look.

I tend to avoid a halter neck as I find they drag on my neck. So I would go with an adjustable strap.

Great info, thanks

I bought one from Andie last summer. It's really fantastic, very supportive and flattering.

I've just bought 2 from sainsburys. I haven't lost the 3 stone I needed to 😄 I'm quite large boobed and a 16.

Lands End are good for supportive swimsuit. They suggest you buy up a size for ease of getting on and off and comfort. This one has money off with the code shown.

Mix and match tankini tops and bottoms here calypsa.com/uk/swim-tops/tankini.html

mineallmine · 18/04/2022 09:57

Ooh, those swim skorts are interesting, @derob. The thoughts of not having to deal with my bikini line on holidays is appealing. Thanks.

I’m a size 18 with big bust and tum, I buy Miraclesuits ( off ebay as cheaper ) they offer bra like support and disguise the tum, very flattering.

ThirdElephant · 18/04/2022 10:07

Google 'swim dress'. Love them, so much more forgiving than standard swim wear, and some come with a skort lower half.

mineallmine · 18/04/2022 11:33

@shewhomustbeEbayed I saw those miracle suits on one of the links recommended. They're fabulous but spendy so good idea to look on eBay.
@ThirdElephant will have a Google,thanks

Marks and Spencer have some that may suit you.

claracluck1978 · 18/04/2022 11:43

I'm a size 20 and have re-discovered my love of swimming in the past year. I wear Deakin and Blue swimsuits and they are great for support whilst also looking great.
Honestly, I don't think I would be so happy swimming/on a beach in anything else now.

AutumnVibes · 18/04/2022 21:28

I have this and it’s great - very thick and supportive (though no secret bra type bits). They sometimes have a sale on too if you get on their mailing list.

Sainsburys, Asda and tkmaxx

Sherbet38 · 18/04/2022 23:37

Lands End. The Carmela swimsuit is flattering and supportive. They do a DD+ option too.

i'm 5'3" and curvy chubby this model of swim suit is very flattering and sucks you in all the right places.

MrsMiddleMother · 19/04/2022 22:57

Sainsburys do the best swimsuits imo and there's usually plenty of styles with a skirt attached

mineallmine · 20/04/2022 08:39

Rats! I had a big Sainsbury's order done, including one swimsuit, but they don't deliver to Ireland. It would be crazy with price of diesel these days to drive from Dublin to Newry just to go to Sainsbury's, wouldn't it??

I have 4 miraclesuit swimsuits on my eBay watchlist so will hopefully have some luck with one of those.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.

Boden have 25% off for the next few days and you can also find their swimsuits on EBay (brand new but older season) for vastly reduced prices - I picked one up for £25 last week.

uggmum · 30/04/2022 08:19

I bought this costume from sainsburys last week for £20.

It is comfortable, sturdy straps and good bust coverage.

low leg but looks higher leg in the picture.

I just bought this and it pulls my tummy in and holds my 34 FF’s up. I really like it.

Greatoutdoors · 30/04/2022 12:01

I’ve just bought a couple from Long Tall Sally after a recommendation on here. I’m not especially long or talk, I’m 5’7” but they are a lovely fit and good quality fabric. I’m a size 18 with boobs and tum which need containing.
