Get Manicure chipping within one week of being done

I get gel manicures and pedicures done on a fairly regular basis and have done for the past 4-5 years.

I use different salons locally sometimes due to availability of nail techs etc. And also depending on where I’ll be that day.

I always use washing up gloves if washing things up and I’m fairly careful with my hands but if they’re gel manicures generally they last longer than normal ones. I moisturise my hands and use nail oils as recommended.

I used a new nail bar recently and within less than a week the manicure chipped on the index finger so I returned and got it redone, with no issues. It’s now chipping again and only in second week but I really don’t want to return and get it redone. I think she was sloppy and rushed it. It’s not the worst manicure but not the best.

I think from reading up on gel manicures that she’s not prepped the nails etc well, she has fairly decent reviews but it’s a nail bar as opposed to a posher beauty salon if that makes sense? By that I mean sometimes I find with nail bars run with lots of clients compared to a beauty salon with a nail bar that they may cut corners and rush things due to quick turnaround of clients.

Prices were similar to posher manicures, about the same actually.

Would you go back and complain again or would you just write it off to experience and use posher beauty salons with manicurists going forward?

I’d complain - it should last 2 weeks.

They should give you a discount for next time - maybe pick a pedicure and stick to the more expensive places for manicures as you say.

I just wouldn’t go back

I think on balance I’m just not going to return!

I can’t face going back again and she’ll then either want me to go back (no way!) in future or I might be tempted to criticise her technique which never goes down well.

I think in future I’ll use the beauty salon I usually use with a top manicurist and the other is a more expensive nail bar a bit further away from me but really excellent too in future and steer clear of run of the mill crowded nail bars.

@Luredbyapomegranate - yeah I know it should last 2 weeks! I’m so pissed off!

I had another supposedly brilliant manicurist (the owner) in a beauty salon argue with me in interim Christmas and New Year period last year when my gel manicure I’d had done day before Christmas Eve and it chipped loads then after only a week! I expected it to last 2 weeks for New Year’s Eve not chip beforehand! Suffice to say I won’t be returning there either!
