Holiday clothes - please help me not to look like a pile of washing that got up and walked this year!

I'm 45, 5'5", the north end of size 14 and I'm off to Greece in July, having not been anywhere hot for 5 years.

None of my existing clothes that would be okay for the temperatures are any better than 'not totally shit'. I would like to buy myself some clothes just for the holiday that will actually look nice in the photos for a change.

Is anyone a similar size, shape and age and would be prepared to tell me what you've bought/worn for hot weather that made you look and feel good?

If anyone feels the need to tell me to lose weight, I'm going to try that too, but am realistic about my own willpower.

I bought this kaftan dress from H&M last year and it’s brilliant for the beach/pool to lunch table and I sometimes wear it with a belt at night.

If it was me packing,im between a 12 and 14 same age as you. There are some fab bargaings to be found in local charity shops,Ive just bought White Linen trousers, but id say anything like this are great and light weight,May be a few blouses or vests.Invest in a Wide brimmed hat and a pair of sunglasses, cheap flipflops at Primark the last time i looked were 90p.Anything you can wash through and hang on a hanger to dry which require no ironing are the best to take. If you plan to go for a walk id say buy some cheap pumps.May be a holiday wrap or sarong if your planning to sit at a pool.Again things like a long summer dress for a evening, but the type that you can easy hang up and if they crease will fall out.I like long tops with leggings but its personal choice. I prefer to travel as light as possible with two evening outfits and a few for the week that i can rinse through if necessary. If you ever need to take a towel buy a camp towel like from mountain warehouse/go outdoors they absorbant and dry quick,im not keen on the microfibre but the other ones are really small and take up less space.

I have a couple of Turkish hammam towels that take up v little space and are not microfibre so those work for me.

For interest, if anyone is similar size/shape to me, I've just bought this swimsuit www.pourmoi.co.uk/products/lightly-padded-underwired-twist-front-control-swimsuit/ and it is an absolute banger. Makes me look like a wanton sex goddess. Mainly because the front of it is made of steel.

Hi you don’t say what your budget is but take a look at Wyse. Pricey but worth it. Or look for similar pieces. Zara has some gorgeous long flowing skirts at present and embroidered tops that look far more expensive than they are. They also have some gorgeous print long & midi dresses.
do not wear shorts! X

Sosandar denim shorts are amazing. Perfect length - long enough without looking frumpy. I have them in denim, white and khaki and they pretty much are all I wear in the day with different tops and Birkenstocks.

Magic linen have nice cool pieces. Linen is great in the heat. Take care if you buy a few items not to go over customs limit. They deliver from Lithuania I think, but really quickly. Lovely quality.
