Beating the humidity with Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray

I received a sample of the Color Wow Dream Coat spray in my 2021 advent calendar and this is the first weekend it’s been really put to the test - and it’s amazing for my fine, over coloured prone to frizz Grin hair!

I used it before going to a very stuffy restaurant last night where my warm (and - bit sweaty) neck would love usually made my hair frizz but it stayed sleek all night. Then I’ve come home from an exercise class this morning and my hair still looks good enough to wear down without washing. I will wash it to be clear, but the point is that the very hot workout didn’t trash my hair.

Just thought I’d add this to ‘Style and Beauty’ in case someone is reading Mumsnet on this gorgeous Easter weekend wondering how to keep their hair sleek.

I use this stuff religiously - it is really good!

Also found the L'Oréal extraordinary oil spray which reduces blow drying time good to reduce frizz ( I also have lots of fine hair which puffs up in humid weather as well)

@LadyOfTheCanyon Do you use both together or would that be product overload?

I’ve been wondering whether or not to get this, glad to see it does what it says on the bottle! My hair is thick, curly and I straighten in. I hope it keeps the frizz at bay.

I sometimes use them together and I don't find that it affects my hair negatively at all. My hair is bleached and sucks up product like a sponge, so I might not be the best benchmark, but it works for me!

This is a brilliant product, I use it all the time. I get the really large size and decent down into a smaller bottle for holidays. I wouldn't be without it.

dumdumduuuummmmm · 16/04/2022 19:23

I use it but I don't really think I'm getting the best out if it. Much do you use? How do you know every strand of hair has some on it?

countdowntonap · 16/04/2022 20:43

I used It ‘liberally’. I spilt my hair into 3 tiers - so lower third of hair (as in top 2/3rds clipped up) then blasted with heat and straighteners, then the same with the next third and the same with the top layer. Only place I didn’t use it was my fringe.

The first time I used it, it was amazing. After that it left it stringy and dry. I really hate this product.

countdowntonap · 17/04/2022 09:14

@Mercurial123 Did you use it too frequently? I noticed it said to use every 2-3 washes and wondered why that was.

Feel like I know loads about skin care, but hair care is still a wonder to me!

I have this product too, and I have just looked up the carb spray for fine/thin hair and added it to my wish list as I came across an advert for it.

The Dreamcoat a really good product so I am thinking about splurging on the carb spray.

OxanaVorontsova · 17/04/2022 09:21

I love dream coat, I tend to apply weekly at most, when I know it’s going to be needed. I wash my hair daily and it lasts well.

No I used it once a week.

I have just bought colour wow dream coat today
i am nervous to use it as I have tried so many products for my fine curly hair. But I have a lot of it
just worried I am going to be disappointed that it didn’t do what it says
will try tomorrow and report back if anyone is interested

BewareTheLibrarians · 07/01/2023 14:14

@Mckmck123 how did you get on with it? I also have fine curly hair and very few coping strategies!

EstelleLauder · 07/01/2023 14:29

Colorwow is one of my holly grail products. I’ve currently got long bleached curly hair that puffs up even when it’s dark. Very little difference between me and an extra from a bad 80’s film, just no hairspray needed.

Colorwow plus a tangle teaser and a decent hairdryer make it manageable Grin

Squirrelsnut · 07/01/2023 14:33

Is it packed with silicone?

MavisMcMinty · 07/01/2023 14:33

Because of my beauty box/advent calendar addiction, I have loads of Colour Wow Dream Coat but have never tried it because I don’t ever blow dry my fine curly hair, and assumed it was one of those hairdryer/heat-activated products - can it be used as a final styling product if your hair dries naturally?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 07/01/2023 14:48

No, it's the heat that works the magic I'm afraid.

MavisMcMinty · 07/01/2023 15:14

Ah, thought so, thanks. That’s all my blow-drying friends’ presents sorted for a few years then…

MirrorMirror1247 · 07/01/2023 15:18

My hairdresser introduced me to it at my last appointment. I got a bottle off Amazon and it's fantastic! I rarely wear my hair down, mostly because of the state it ends up in, but I'll need to try that after an application. It's definitely made a difference to my ponytail!

Mckmck123 · 07/01/2023 15:50

BewareTheLibrarians
i am not that impressed but I think I will try it again but wait for a few hair washes until I try it again
was very flyaway as I blow dried but then I curl it with my Dyson curlers and it was better but not really as good as shown in u tube
just waiting to see what happens in the rain or humidity
