Trainers in a race course

Would you wear trainers (with a dress) to a race course? Not talking Ascot ladies day Grin Website says no sportswear but trainers like Veja etc are not sportswear IMO

I'm still not sure what Vejas are (although they seem to get a lot of space on here), but assuming they're trainers or some kind of running shoe, no I would not. I would wear boots.

pokerdone · 15/04/2022 18:58

Probably not! What racecourse and when?

Mufflette · 15/04/2022 18:59

Depends what type of ticket you have. Often the lowest price enclosure will be fine with trainers but you wouldn't be allowed to go into the more expensive ones.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 15/04/2022 19:30

There will likely be certain areas where you won't be allowed to go.

You'd be ok to go in the family enclosure, but Tatts etc would probably be out.

I'd say no, especially if you are booked into Grandstand or a restaurant.

Thank you. That's a shame 🤷‍♀️

Nope, trainers are not acceptable in Members/Premier/etc. This weekend is one of their big Flat meetings of the season with the Classic Trials, so expectations on dress code are higher than for an ordinary midweek meeting.

This.

Newbury are pretty tight on dress code, sorry.

MsDastardley · 16/04/2022 07:53

Someone recently started a post about wearing these to a wedding www.russellandbromley.co.uk/park-up/240021. I think most people agreed you could!

HardbackWriter · 16/04/2022 07:58

But you 'can' wear anything to a wedding, in that you won't be denied entry or chucked out, the worst that would happen is that you'd get stared at. Whereas an event like this they might actually not allow her in if she isn't conforming to the dress code, so she really 'can't' wear trainers.

ChilledMocha · 16/04/2022 08:55

I'm not going to wear trainers, but it is bit odd that they say fancy dress is ok, still are so strict on footwear Hmm

OP posts:
pokerdone · 16/04/2022 09:32

Fancy dress is only usually allowed in certain parts of a course. Where are your tickets for?

ChilledMocha · 16/04/2022 09:42

There was further email "we encourage racegoers to dress smartly, and fashion trainers are permitted".

@pokerdone grandstand. I won't be wearing trainers (I found another pair of comfy shoes that look the part).
