Go-to stylish casual outfits for summer

Looking for ideas for cool, casual summer outfits.
My winter uniform of jumper + jeans + boots + coat has served me well. Is there a summer equivalent that always works?
Or if not any ideas for some nice summer outfit that look a bit more stylish than just shorts and a vest top?

Chinos and fitted tshirt?

I bought some wide leg trousers in navy from m&s yesterday,can see myself wearing them alot with a top half tucked in ( got this from a thread about Trinny). Maybe flip flops or trainers?

Wide leg cropped trousers, boxy but not big T shirt no longer than hip length, sneakers/sandals. Tucked in T shirt would also work. This is probably a spring outfit. Still pondering summer.

I prefer lightweight but longer layers instead of lots of bare skin, it feels cooler when the weather gets hot and I feel better not having my arms and legs out completely. I like slightly oversized linen or cotton shirts worn open as a top layer, midi skirts or slim leg trousers in plain colours and patterned tops or tees under. It's the summer version of my winter uniform of a skirt, tights, long sleeved top and open cardigan.

Have found Toast and & Other Stories good in the past. And I was in Uniqlo the other day and they have some cropped but boxy T shirts which I am thinking about. They might be a few cm too short for me.

Maxi dress or maxi skirt and top combo, with denim or lightweight leather jacket?

And yes to maxi dresses. I have a few but always feel a bit dressed up in them.
