You look tired.

Got told this twice earlier in the week by two different people. I think they were genuinely concerned and not being bitchy but it made me feel like shit as I had on a full face of makeup and slept well. My BMI is always low at 18.6 which I think doesn't help the haggard look at 40. Anyone do fillers? I don't mind Botox but scared of fillers Any home remedies. I feel about 90 :(

Are you stressed out? My stress shows on my face and when I feel better I look less tired again. Hope you’re okay, it’s always shit when people say that even when innocent Daffodil

2orangey · 15/04/2022 16:49

Oh yes I've had this comment. I had a similar BMI to you when I was younger and facial features which tend to looking gaunt when my weight is lower. Add to that dry, pale skin and blue-grey circles under my eyes, I sometimes look more Walking Dead than just tired!

I don't have any miracle cures so will watch this thread hopefully. I've noticed the colour I'm wearing really changes how healthy/alive I look. If I ever try to wear blue, welcome to Zombieland, but pinks and creams and other warmer tones bring my skin to life.

I hate to say this but… cut out alcohol (note to self). I always look better without, and tired with. Eat good fats too. Weight sounds fine, if on low side.

beechie12 · 15/04/2022 18:18

Thanks everyone. I've ordered retinol and am starting a skin care regime. Maybe a good thing as it's kicked me into action. At the moment all I do are makeup remover wipes and moisturise. Cutting out alcohol good idea too. My top was bluey that day I'm sure that didn't help.

I get told this (even occasionally by total strangers) EVERY TIME I ditch the tanning drops.

I don’t love having to use fake tan so much as it gets pricey. But my god without it I look like a Victorian invalid (apparently). Bear in mind even with tanning drops all year round I’m still one of the palest people I know. Without them I look unwell and exhausted and people get worried about me Grin

Might be worth a try (if you don’t already!!)?

I also find my entire face changes when my period is due and I look sort of blobby-featured and grey and shattered. Might that be it!??

Which drops? I'd like some I can mix with moisturiser. Is there such a thing?
Ohchristmastreeohchristmastree · 16/04/2022 06:18

I always get asked this when I am wearing lipstick! I think the colour makes the rest of my face look pale. Could this be what is happening here?

Nouveaunew · 16/04/2022 06:44

I had this too from a friend when my BMI went low. I’m up to 21 now and apparently looking less exhausted! I don’t know if it’s just the weight though - it might’ve been a coincidence. I find toner helps and mascara snd filled in eyebrows.

beechie12 · 16/04/2022 08:16

Oh yes YBMHC do you have the name of those they sound good

I'm wondering if it is BMI too actually, as I am underweight and I just look a bit sickly and gaunt as my features are more defined I guess. I don't drink so it can't be that. I have to wear fake tan daily otherwise I look really ill. I use tretinoin, and a full skincare routine so I don't think it's that either.

TabithaTittlemouse · 16/04/2022 08:46

I used to get this until I put on weight. I’m not loving the rest of my body but my face definitely looks better for it.

Taking vitamins and iron also helped me look more alive

Luciemaie · 16/04/2022 09:00

I do Botox and fillers but honestly - I’d try something like microneedling. It worked well for me and on my “hair up, no makeup I can’t be bothered days” I use a glow serum from boots. I think it’s their own brand but it makes me look abit more vibrant. Also fake tan helps if your into that. Anything thatl give you a little glow

JoyLurking9to5 · 16/04/2022 09:05

I'm sure you look fine! But like a pp, when I go out without under eye concealer and mascara, people think I'm ''tired''. Too tired to put on make up just to go to corner shop perhaps!

Nouveaunew · 16/04/2022 09:52

I rarely leave the house without rich moisturiser, foundation, mascara & filled in mascara. A once a week mask goes a long way too. It is interesting though how BMI can impact the face. Intensive moisturisation, a face oil & regular toning go a long way @beechie12

Nouveaunew · 16/04/2022 09:53

filled in eyebrows

Snoopsnoggysnog · 16/04/2022 09:59

I absolutely love BB cream.

I used to get told this a lot until I put on about a stone. Went from 8 stone to 9 stone so still slim but carrying extra weight on my face.
Tbh I’d like to lose half a stone but I’ll probably look more gaunt.

MissStarry · 16/04/2022 10:19

I had this constantly and then I got tear trough fillers which stopped those comments. I did lots of research and was terrified at the prospect; went to one of the top eye surgeon in the country (possibly a bit ott and he was definitely incredibly expensive, but I was terrified and only wanted to be in the safest hands). It’s lasted ages too - had them done 2018 and it’s only just starting to look a potential top up could be on the cards!

Also agree with tanning drops - there’s loads around but I use Isle of Paradise -
