40th birthday jewellery help

SarahWoodruff · 15/04/2022 01:07

DH wants to buy me jewellery as a birthday present for my upcoming 40th. He'd happily splash lots of cash, I would prefer he didn't go mad.

But I have no idea what to suggest! Can any of you help? I like quite stark/ geometric stuff, and I don't wear earrings very often so a ring/ necklace/ cuff would be better. Budget: up to £200 but not super-strict.

Any good websites I can send him to? It's unlikely he could saunter round Hatton Garden etc to pick up some stones, so online would be preferable. (Also he could run it past me if unsure!)

Any suggestions? Thank you!

Also try here OP

I have a couple of cuffs from here very easy to wear and much admired.

I also have the Alex monroe conker necklace which is pleasingly spiky but not actually geometric !

Happy browsing

I was going to suggest the same! I love the Elizabeth bangle. Or the Fairy bangle.

Design something you like and get it made by a jeweller's

Icequeen01 · 15/04/2022 17:19

@bendmeoverbackwards I've got the fairy bangle and I love it. My DH also bought me the Bramble bangle in gold and silver and the matching earrings which are gorgeous.

bendmeoverbackwards · 15/04/2022 17:30

@Icequeen01 which width do you have? Any chance of a pic?

SarahWoodruff · 15/04/2022 17:43

Thank you to all, these are great ideas. @Shinyandnew2022 those cuffs are just my style!

Yes of course! Did you want a photo of all 3 items or just the Bramble bangle and earrings? I went for the largest width but to be honest I feel it's a bit wide for me although others disagree. I did message John Garland and they said they would be happy to resize but I haven't got round to it yet!

Sorry op did you mean two thousand pounds because two hundred is hardly splashing the cash
Tell him to up his game and get something decent

SarahWoodruff · 15/04/2022 19:34

@Sarkymarky That's not really how I roll and I would be very happy with any of the options suggested by other posters. He might well spend more left to his own devices but I'm not shallow enough to judge a present by its cost. Horses for courses, I suppose. Have a lovely Easter!

Bought a chunky silver ring from here once. Good quality and unusual Spanish jewellery.

Don’t be a dick.

Look at Monica Vinader or Sheila Fleet.

I’m 40 in a couple weeks and I’m getting a lovely ring made. Can’t wait.

ImAvingOops · 15/04/2022 19:41

I like Uno de 50. I have done lovely earrings and a bracelet. Prices are around £100

Museum gift shops usually have beautiful jewellery.

Her stuff is gorgeous and amazing quality. You can get stung on customs charges but still works out cheaper than a similiar quality item in the UK.

Really nice to see someone coming back to apologise when they realise they’ve been a bit of a tool. It’s very rare on here!
