Help! What should I wear?

A friend's husband is quite famous in the educational research and publishing world, he's written several books which have done very well. As I work in a connected sector, I've been invited to a celebration at his publishers in June. It's a rooftop party and I haven't the faintest idea of what I should wear. I'll be working all day so won't have too long to get home and change before having to get the train to the venue. I DON'T do heels. I'm 5' 6, a size 12/14 and can probably stretch the budget up to £200. How formal do you think this will be? I'm already starting to panic! 😬

Well, you could wear almost anything... what do you like to wear? Dresses? Jumpsuits? You could wear tailored shorts and top? Wide leg trousers and silky vest? Where do you normally shop? You could check the outlet for bargains?

I have been to quite a few of those things and honestly it’s a complete mixed bag!! I would pick something you feel comfortable in, sort of smart casual, anything your wear to work is fine as most come from work. Don’t worry about heels, I’ve barely seen anyone in heels recently - thank god!!

If I had to sum the looks up from high street shops, I would say Cos as opposed to Coast 😂

Most people tend to go to book launches straight from work so I wouldn't worry that it will be super formal. Dress up as much as you want to!
