Flattering relaxed hoodies/summer tops

whatever1980 · 14/04/2022 09:39

For days in the beach

Im early 40s. 10/12. I generally wear jeans most of the time outside of work (different variations of 7 for all mankind). I also always wear a knee length coat as a safety blanket.

Summer is coming up and I obviously can’t keep wearing a coat as I’ll melt and look stupid!

Any ideas for what to wear for summer walks out with cropped jeans - flattering and casual please? Pretty specific I know!

I quite like this, better in flesh

But depends on the look you want really as there are all sorts of options from denim jackets to waterproof cagoules.

What about jeans, a vest top and a nice kimono? One Hundred Stars has some beautiful kimonos (but I also got one I really love in H&M!). I know what you mean about the safety blanket and I think a kimono is a summery version of that and can be dressed up or down.

Thanks @lurkingfromhome and @TheOGCCL great suggestions. I always do this - whatever I’m doing I want to look like I do it all the time whether it’s yoga or running or beach days!

I quite like vest tops and open shirts. Gives you that extra bit coverage, but stay cool. I also like Kimono's. Boohoo have some nice ones at the moment

I'd go for a khaki shacket along the lines of this, maybe longer:

You'll look like such a towny twat wearing a kimono in the countryside.

HollowedOut · 15/04/2022 00:02

@Gwenhwyfar I was thinking the same thing. Obviously if you’re in London or somewhere exceptionally trendy you can get away with a kimono. I’m in a rural fishing town and there’s a woman who regularly wears a kimono and everyone just assumes she’s wearing her pyjamas

I love this Shacket, thanks!

OP what about ditching the jeans and going for a jumpsuit or boiler suit

OMG I’m a townie twat and this made me LOL. My kimono isn’t even the twattiest thing I wear.

@whatever1980 I agree with the shacket idea, I have one from anthropology (no longer available sadly) that I wear all the time. Advice obviously caveated by the fact it comes from a townie twat.

"OMG I’m a townie twat and this made me LOL. My kimono isn’t even the twattiest thing I wear."

Do you go around the village in a pashmina?

Maybe a different kid of townie twat

I just bought a couple of these denim shirts in different colours - I too live in longer cardigans in the winter and like something similar but lighter for spring and summer.

Thanks all - layering idea is very me. Shackets are a new concept to new to me!

I would love to be trendy enough to carry off a boiler suit but I would feel too self conscious!
