1st of 3 weddings this summer. I'm late 50s, size 12 hourglass with massive arms so am drawn to the sleeves.....

The first dress is very classic and pretty and its slightly formal air beats out the 2nd dress and the too fitted, loud pattern, wrap dress (cocktail clubbing dress?) posted.

AnAfternoonWalk · 23/04/2022 18:45

2nd dress seems too casual, more a beachy dress.

Phase 8 have some lovely dresses with sheer sleeves. I wore this to a recent wedding and it was perfect.

You have a great figure and your arms are not massive!!!
I love the first dress the second one suits you but unless it’s a beach wedding no

I would get the first and accessorise with blush or nude shoes and bag.

Beautiful, I think the first dress and this one are the top 2!

The pic of you is much nicer than the link in the op

your arms are normal btw! Do not fixate on them ;

I think it’s lovely and fine for a wedding

Same here. It's much nicer than the Bombshell dress

orangeisthenewpuce · 23/04/2022 18:58

There is nothing the matter with your arms!! Good god woman, mine are like 2 massive hams and no way would they have fitted in the first dress you showed us. Your dress in the photo of you was lovely and you looked great.

chubbachub · 23/04/2022 19:23

What about this one Op? Similar but more summery. Agree with others - its a bit to dark and heavy for summer wedding

Theres nothing wrong with your arms! But i dont think the greeny colour of the beach dress suits your skin tone

Lollypop701 · 23/04/2022 19:27

Love the 1st dress… with pastel accessories you will look fabulous

Mumblechum0 · 23/04/2022 19:29

@chubbachub @TakingTheLowRoad love the ones in your links thanks!

Have a look at some of the dresses at Rosie’s closet There are some stunning dresses with sleeves if you want to cover your arms, in loads of summery colours and prints.

Notarealmum · 25/04/2022 10:32

The first dress would look great worn with white/off white accessories to lighten up the black - go for it! (Your arms are absolutely fine though....)

Picoloangel · 27/04/2022 18:32

I think it’s lovely and I’d wear it to a wedding. I think it’s a bit outdated to think black is inappropriate for a wedding. I really like it.

Sillyname63 · 27/04/2022 19:56

I think it is lovely, especially if you co-op ordinate shoes , handbag, head wear in the pastel colours to match the sleeves. Go for it.

TolkiensFallow · 27/04/2022 20:04

I like the first one. Black and white is classy for a wedding.

The pricey roses one is also lovely but…pricey!

GrandmaSharkdodo · 28/04/2022 08:12

Just here to agree with PPS. The first dress is lovely and with nude/pastel accessories would be perfectly ok for a wedding. You'll look lovely, op! And I wish I had your figure, arms and all!
