Facial sunscreen recommendations

ChloeCC · 12/04/2022 08:59

I'm looking for a sunscreen for my face that:

Is factor 30, or preferably higher
Will sit happily under make up
Won't leave a chalky cast
Won't sting my eyes horribly
Won't cause me to take out a second mortgage (under a tenner would be great).

Any ideas? I use the very, very affordable Lacura factor 20 one at the moment. It's really excellent and does everything I have mentioned above, but only at factor 20. What are you all using?

I use Supergoop facial sunscreen. Highly recommend, it sits on my skin like a primer and is factor 40. Doesn't sweat off and into my eyes and is a good base for make up of I want to wear any.

My favourites are :

Beauty Pie Factor 50 with Primer
Ultra Violette Fluid Factor 50
Supergoop Factor 50
La Roche Posay (forgotten the name but they do a lot)

TheFutureIs · 12/04/2022 09:11

La Roche Posay have a few, all good.
Some of them are like tinted moisturiser and I use instead of foundation in the summer

I like the Bondi Sands face one, factor 50 and £6.99 for 75ml.

I like biore watery essence.

My beautician recommends LRP anthelios

ChloeCC · 12/04/2022 12:45

Thanks everyone, I'm going to try a La Roche Posay Anthelios one. I'll report back!

Pretty much any Korean or Japanese Facial Sunscreen SPF50+. My current favourites are Etude House Surprise Mild Airy Finish SPF 50+ and Missha Aqua Sun Gel SPF 50+. Biore is lovely too.
All so light and no white cast.

Gateauxilla · 12/04/2022 13:27

I've used Biore watery essence for years and highly recommend it. I've always bought it from Amazon but it's getting more difficult to find and much more expensive, so very interested to hear other recommendations!

I really like NIVEA SUN UV Face Suncream SPF 50 Shine Control
Only £8 full price but always on offer somewhere as stocked by supermarkets as well as Boots, Superdrug etc. It isn’t at all greasy & doesn’t leave a white film so perfect under makeup.

yellowsun · 12/04/2022 13:49

The garnier spf50 anti age with hyaluronic acid is a good cheap buy. If you are drier, there is one with glycerin.

Lemonyfuckit · 12/04/2022 18:57

I like the Beauty Pie factor 50 or the Eurcin oil free anti ageing factor 50 - both lightweight, sink in, fine under make up, not white cast and not expensive.

I like Altruist, developed by a dermatologist, it feels like a moisturizer.

I like it too but I think it's only for light skin tones. My DH is black and we couldn't get rid of the white cast it was so prominent so it's not one I'd recommend for darker skin tones.

I'd love to buy the Japanese & Korean suncreams, but am concerned about buying it from Amazon since I've read reviews about receiving fakes. Does anyone have any recommended sellers, or other beauty sites?

ParentOfOne · 06/05/2022 09:13

Yesstyle and Stylevana ship from Hong Kong to Europe, including UK.
If I remember correctly, yesstyle is a bit more expensive but takes care of VAT, whereas Stylevana is cheaper but you may be hit with VAT and customs duties.

This reddit forum has a "where to buy" section www.reddit.com/r/AsianBeauty/wiki/buyingguides

Beware that some Asian stores have temporarily suspended shipments to some countries, or the shipments may take longer.

Dokodemo is quite popular, too, but it is actually some kind of marketplace, so you can end up buying from multiple sellers.

Search "ratzilla" for information on Japanese sunscreens.
