Smart fleece

I don't know if I'm after the impossible, but if anyone knows, MN will.

I do a fair bit of walking, and also lots of weekends away in a motorhome with my dh and dogs, I'm 50, overweight and short (am I selling myself).

To keep packing light, I usually take a bunch of long sleeved T-shirts and a fleece for when it's cold. At the moment I've got a cheap, navy blue zipped fleece that's great, nice and warm, I can wear inside and also out walking, it just looks dreadful Grin

I'd like something light enough I can wear inside, but also out and about walking in nice villages and the occasional footpath without looking like one of the local farmers scarecrows

I'm a big fleece wearer. They're so warm and practical. (I grew up in an outdoorsy family, and swore I would never wear fleece once I was old enough to to choose my own clothes... but here we are!)

In my experience you've got to spend a bit more to get something with a flattering cut which washes well. Here are a few of my favourites. The Patagonia are expensive, but I've worn them day in, day out for a couple of years and they still look good.

I have a North Face one and a Columbia one. Both from ASOS, flattering for a fleece!

coodawoodashooda · 12/04/2022 09:37

They look really nice.

NormalForNuneaton · 12/04/2022 09:42

Try Uniqlo

They have some traditional zip-up style but also some more jacket-type ones in shape, button up etc

vilamoura2003 · 12/04/2022 10:50

Try Musto - I have a nice grey one. I think they are a sailing company 🤔 I was bought one as a gift by someone who knows I like being warm.

Lands End have blazers made of fleece material. They wouldn't pass muster in an office but on a walk they'd look quite smart.

@Ladybutterflyaway I really like the blazer type fleece, something a bit different

@JofraArchersFastestBall exactly that. I swore I'd never wear another one again, but here I am Grin

I've got this, looks much much nicer in real life, only a size 8 left on the website, I got mine at an outlet if there is one near you.

Agree that you need to spend a bit more, I find Arket have a good range and kind of classic?
