Can I box dye my hair?

I have had bayalage for years, but simply cannot afford the £90 for the cut and colour and it’s beginning to look awful.

The top half of my hair is my natural dark brown and then at the end it is bleached blonde. My hair is thick and waist length.

Will it look awful if I apply a few boxes slightly darker than my natural shade?

I've dyed over old highlights before and it worked fine. I think always best to go lighter than you think you need.

Definitely go lighter than your natural shade. The last thing you want is for the bleached sections to suck up the dye and make the ends of your hair look really dark.

Try and find a golden brown shade rather than a red based one.
