Lipstick for over 50s with "no faff" benefits

I never thought much about lipstick, I just bought a colour that I liked and wore it: the only thing that could go wrong was, indeed, the colour. But I am not fussy.
I now seem to have a problem: I cannot splash lipstick on my lips as I used to.
When quick zig-zagging started looking weird, I did avail myself of a contouring pencil (a suggestion found here)....but even that help seems to be gone.
Now some of you are fond of primer, but primer+pencil+lipstick is a bit too much, considering how many times a day I apply lipstick....
I would love love love to wear on special occasions a deep bright red without it splashing all over my face, but my favourite Dior 999 does not look right anymore....
Do I have to go for lipgloss? If so, which one?

Help!

The maybelline ones last but you need to reapply the balm to keep them shiny

With tinted lipsalves I use a lip pencil underneath it
@PlainJaneEyre no I have not nor I have tried the Maybelline: I always worry that my lips will be too dry...does it dry lips? Do they keep a bit of shine?
I don't find it drying. The Max Factor version I found very drying.

I use maybelline superstay.. it's double ended and the balm is applied after the lipstick

user50and · 11/04/2022 14:22

I'm 50 and use Charlotte Tilbury lipstick and liner (just outside my natural lipline) stays on forever..

Possiblynotever · 11/04/2022 14:33

@user50and I did Pillow Talk and it spreads everywhere!

@uncomfortablydumb53, I have that and it's pretty good

The maybelline superstay 24 is like a stain so it lasts a long time. Yes, it dries the lips but it has a balm on the other end that you put over the top so soothes the dryness and gives a bit of a shine.

Ok so the contest is between Maybelline Superstain and Dior Tatoo

Try the Christian Dior 999 in the new satin balm formulation - still the same great shade but a more sheer natural finish. I love it!

Possiblynotever · 11/04/2022 17:59

@thisnthat meaning that the satin balm stays put?

OP posts:

Well it doesn’t stay put as much as the original formula, but over foundation with a natural liner, it’s not bad at all and just has a much nicer natural look.

Ok will try
