Just received some gorgeous Vans but...

They are so lovely, I really want to keep them for spring/summer wear with everything! But I've tried them on and although they feel like a great fit generally, they're digging in around the top, ankles and round the back, but particularly at the tongue which seems really rigid when I walk. All the reviews say they're really comfy. They're leather upper unlike the canvas ones I've had in the past. Anyone had these? Do they wear in well? At £50 I don't want to waste that much. I'll try to attach pic 📸

This is why I never buy footwear online. If they are uncomfortable you won't wear them. Send them back.

Go to a real shop and try footwear on. You won't regret it.

@RampantIvy I know what you're saying, I'm not a massive fan of online shopping at all for anything really (seems like it's the direction of travel though unfortunately)
Maybe if I'd have tried on in shop I would have just left them, or got something else instead. But I love them! I'm hoping someone will come along and say that's how they always start out but they become more comfortable over time after wearing in. They are leather after all.

Vans do that when you first buy them but they bed in pretty quickly

Brightermornings · 09/04/2022 18:32

I have these they are lovely 😊

Bookishandblondish · 09/04/2022 18:38

Sounds weird, but wear thick socks and dampen the leather - will help it stretch a bit.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 09/04/2022 18:41

Are you wearing with socks? If not I would suggest this for the first few weeks while they loosen up.

Cutemob · 09/04/2022 18:56

@Brightermornings Smile
Did they take long to break in or would you say you didn't have the same issue?
Thanks for the advice

I've got these and they do rub for ages. I've had them a few months and don't wear them for long periods but they're definitely softening up now

lindyloo57 · 09/04/2022 19:53

I have this problem with a pair of slip on skechers, I still can't wear them without socks as I get blisters on my heels. I had them a year, wish I never brought them.

AlternativelyWired · 09/04/2022 21:20

Panty liners on your feet where they run or dig in.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 10/04/2022 09:01

I had to send my back,it was like wearing razor blades!

skippy67 · 10/04/2022 09:17

Ooh, those are lovely!!

I haven't actually worn them yet 😄

zighead · 11/04/2022 09:29

I've bought these too! They are gorgeous to look at but very uncomfortable. I am just wearing them around the house for a couple of hours at a time to try and break them in.

I'd have to travel 35 miles both ways for the shoe brands I like to buy!

RampantIvy · 11/04/2022 13:26

I have awkward feet. It would be quicker for me to do a 70 mile round trip to buy shoes than to spend time queuing in the post office, not to mention the £££ I have to spend trying to buy shoes in the first place. I can easily try on upwards of 20 pairs of shoes to find something comfortable.

isthismylifenow · 11/04/2022 13:31

They are really lovely.

But I too am one of those who cannot wear shoes if they aren't comfy right from the get go.

I don't have the patience to wear shoes in. If they aren't comfy, they get left at the back of the cupboard. So i always try on before I buy.

Cutemob · 11/04/2022 16:35

Just an update, I re-laced them differently to how they came in the post and did them very loose especially round the top. Put some normal socks on but folded them over double thickness around the ankle. It's not normally how I would wear them but it worked for a comfortable walk to the shops yesterday and they're on their way to being broken in. Even had compliments. Definitely keeping Grin
