How do I fix hair disaster?

So I had balayage done in my hair. Went to someone who I found on Instagram, who has several tens of thousand followers and seemed to be good with people with my hair type.

I kept stressing I want it to be brown, as my hair is very dark brown, almost black. He kept saying no problem.

It came out very gingery. Very much so. He didn’t know I speak the same language as him so I heard him say to a colleague as he was drying my hair “she wanted it browner” but to me he kept saying how lovely it is. I told him I didn’t like it and he added more toner. It’s still ginger. At that point I left it. So I have dark hair with ginger bronzey balayage. I hate it.

He posted a picture of me on his Instagram and in his photo, my hair looks lovely (as does my skin and make up). So he uses a filter in his photos. I fell for the trap.

If I go to another hairdresser, and ask them to colour my hair all over in a nice chocolate brown, will that change the colour of the balayage?

Can you attach a picture before and after ?

A pic would be good.

Could you dye the lighter gingery balyage with a light brown ? That way you will still get the effect. Either box dye yourself or go back to the salon?

A semi permanent hair colour without ammonia. You don't want to lighten your own hair then deposit colour. So I'd choose a light brown that won't darken the lighter hair but just tone it down. If you use a permanent colour all over and later decided to strip it out you could end up ginger all over, so permanent is probably best avoided.

I don’t think I can upload a photo…MN inexplicably deleted my account earlier today (I emailed them from a different email address as I couldn’t access the email on the account, and rather than simply saying sorry, we can’t communicate with you, they also deleted my entire account!). So this is a new profile I set up today. Does anyone know how else I can share?

So go for a light brown rather than a chocolate brown? I assumed because my hair is dark, the chocolate brown won’t do anything on my non coloured hair. But I see the point of it no longer being non coloured hair if I do that.

Yes, exactly that. If you want to have it all one colour again, dye it the same as your own hair. If you want to still have a tonal effect go for a light ash brown.even a dark ash blonde. The ash will tone the orange pigments

You could try esalon. Send in pictures, explain what happened and how you want it to look. They can then make up the colour(s) you need to fix the problem.

Honestly if it were me I would write on the Instagram post of you that you would love to return for the color to be tweaked, please.
