Join me in my bid to make old lady shoes cool

Size 20 here. Fat calves and wide feet. And wow the Hotter boots are comfy. I have ankle boots with zips either side (think style is called whisper) and calf length boots that fit like a dream. All flat.
Tbh I thought I was looking pretty hot and no one would know they were old lady boots then I went to a medical appt and had the take them off to get on the bed and the person I was seeing immediately said “oh they look nice and comfy”.

I like ankle boots too but simply can’t wear them. I just find they look stupid with my jeans. I can never figure out how to make them into an ‘outfit.’

I think you’ll find that by old lady I meant that older women have shoes that are wider and flatter to deal with joint pain and other foot related issues such as thickened nails, growths, dropped arches etc. I said nothing about frumpy. Sigh
Call them what they are: Foot-shaped Shoes.

If you want to wear comfortable shoes just wear them , why do you need to make them cool . I’ve never actually given two hoots about what anyone else thinks about what I wear

I've had a few pairs of really nice shoes from Hotter. They were not old lady shoes at all.

Thanks to @borntobequiet I have just discovered Palladium shoes, and have ordered myself a pair.

My Mum died 15 years ago, she was 86. I had to clear her clothes and shoes out at home, and I saved a pair of her shoes and sandals, and now I wear them..she wore the same size as me. she had nice slim legs and ankles. much the same as mine.

My feet are really narrow still. And nearly everybody seems to be wearing flat shoes these days. So 'old lady shoes' is still a lazy and offensive assumption. Sigh.

Anyway, your thread was obviously intended to be light hearted, so you are forgiven. 😀

You have some odd opinions on footwear and on older women. You want your 'old lady shoes' to look 'cool'. Yet have an image of older women all dealing with joint pain and dropped arches!

Check out Advanced Style for some photos of older women wearing all manner of footwear, much of it elegant, stylish, surprising, and indeed cool. For example:
