Memorial service outfit advice

Going to a memorial service in a fairly traditional, posh venue shortly. (think higher academic type settings) I am stressing over what to wear. There’s been no advice over dress code and have a lot of black- but maybe that’s too somber (it’s for a relative who died of Covid in the first lockdown)
I’m 60’s, size 16, bog boobs, small waist, and 5ft 2. Wrap dresses or buttons just gape horribly.
Was thinking maybe a black and white patterned tunic and ??? (Linen trousers? What style? Leggings? Agggh! ) or a dress?
Will need to wear comfy shoes / boots as there’s a lot of walking and standing involved.
Help!

If fairly traditional, I would go black suit (skirt or tailored trousers) or black dress and jacket.

A black & white tunic & smart black trousers with black shoes & bag would look smart, would you wear a coat as well? If you do them maybe a tiny splash of colour would lift the outfit, I wore a black funnel necked coat for my dad's funeral & added a pink pattered scarf to lift my colouring as I looked really pale in the coat.

Thank you both. That’s really helpful. So glad mumsnet has such lovely people. I have hardly been anywhere since “the before times” and still live in loose tunics and leggings or stretch jeggings most of the time. I have no idea what acceptable any more.
I like the tunic and adding a scarf idea. Thank you- it’s more “me” as is the dress and jacket and boots.
If I go with the black and white linen tunic, which is more tailored than my usual loose ones, what shape / fabric of smart trousers? Is wide linen too informal? The tunic looks good to me with jegging style trousers but the ones I have are definitely too casual and the look is probably too dated ( M&S stretch jeggings)

I've just been to my sister's memorial service. I wore (very thick) ponte leggings, knee high suede boots, a fitted black/ white tunic and a jacket. I'm 6 feet tall size 14, and in my 60s.

I don't wear dresses/ skirts and have no smart formal trousers.
