Plus sized city break outfits

Having spent the last 2 years working from home and going nowhere DH is finally taking me on a city break in Spain for our wedding anniversary in June. We will be site seeing during the day and then out for meals in the evening. I am short and plus sized 26 so have no idea what to wear beyond jeans and a top - can anyone give me any outfit ideas please. -

I would get a few maxi or midi dresses, light and cool.

H and M have some lovely plus size bits in linen atm.

Also try M and S. They go up to a 24 in their straight size range and I find it comes up big.

It'll be pretty warm. I'm not plus sized so can't help with shops etc but I really like linen t shirts for holidays as they're so lovely and cool but not sticky.

Also I really hate getting my legs out even on holiday and get chub rub in dresses, but I find silky harem type pants really comfortable.

Next have some nice taper leg linen trousers and they go up to 26. On the website they look short on the models, I'm 5ft 4 and the regular length is perfect for me.
Daytime you could wear with a t-shirt, and for an evening wear them with a vest top and loose blouse over.

@ChristinePerfect I like the idea of linen trousers so will have a look for them. @mamaes maybe a dress for the evenings. Thanks guys some good ideas x

Don’t forget the chub rub pants. Essential imho in warm weather when sight seeing.

linen trousers these have a decent waistband, I've found in the past the drawstring style ones can look pretty shapeless.

cotton top anything linen or cotton, for hot days, rather than sweaty polyester.

I would find some culottes/wide leg linen trousers - H&M had so many lovely ones last year. Definitely in a black/cream/white. Then you can wear a longer linen/cotton shirt, leave it open and wear a vest like top underneath, that way you have a cover up if needed. Also, denim jacket to sling over your shoulders on an evening.
A good comfy pair of trainers is a must!!
I'd also look at a good dress, a shirt style dress with sleeves you can roll up with a tie belt to pull in your waist. A good pair of sunnies and a straw hat!

I don't think you can go wrong with a maxi dress, a little denim jack left undone, and sandals.

Strictlydusting · 04/04/2022 09:01

@ChristinePerfect thank you I ordered the trousers yesterday and have just added the top. Both great picks for me.

I second @FormerlySpeckledyHen suggestion of shorts to protect against chafing - for both you and DH. Almost anyone do a lot of walking in warm temperatures will chafe, and it can really ruin the day.

ChristinePerfect · 04/04/2022 13:09

@Strictlydusting hope you and your DH have a lovely time

LittleGwyneth · 04/04/2022 14:37

Agree, main thing is not letting chub rub ruin your trip. I'm a 14/16 and I favour cycling shorts with an oversized t-shirt, chunky trainers, but I am fairly young and like that 90s Princess Di look.

I have the Nike flyknit trainers which are so supportive I can walk for dozens of miles without feeling it in my feet at all, would v much recommend them or similar.

Strictlydusting · 05/04/2022 17:08

@ChristinePerfect thank you the trousers came today and I am keeping both pairs - navy and black. Sadly the top was too short and too tight - I think the sizing must be wrong! I have a couple of similar tops in stock so just need trainers now.

I'm pleased you like the trousers, I bought navy and black too as I thought they were quite nicely cut and a good price. Shame about the top though.
