Box hair dye - mix and keep?

Wise MNers, I need some box dye advice. I have short hair and prefer to colour it - don't think the grey is far away! I only need about 1/3 of a bottle of dye. The box says once you mix it, don't keep it. Can you keep it? If do how long for? Would love not to waste so much!

I mix it in 2 separate lots. Lot one in an old yogurt pot then keep the rest unmixed and mix normally. Hope that makes sense. So I save it unmixed 😊

No. I think it can explode in the bottle…am not an expert though. Also I imagine that as you mix the bottles when you are ready to use it, the chemicals are likely to go weird if mixed and left. So might do something very dodgy to your hair!

Buy a bottle of developer and a mixing bowl and then just use as much dye with the developer measured out with it as required .

I have long hair but not enough for 2 box dyes so I buy two and use one and a half. Use a bowl and mix up half of the developer with the colourant, save the other half. Don't mix and keep!

I have a pixie cut that I bleach using Live 00A .. measure half out in a bowl in
grammes and ml on electronic scales ..
Then keep the rest in the original packaging. Works well ...
You just need to buy extra gloves ( cheap packet of 25) ..and reseal the unused elements un mixed

This is meno brain right here - why did I not just think about separate bowls! Thank you!
