Under eye wrinkles WORSE with retinol eye cream!?

I started using the No.7 retinol under eye cream about 1.5 weeks ago and the lines under my eyes look worse!? Is this a temporary thing (please god) or should I stop using it? It does sting a little when I put it on initially and I've gone from every night to every 2nd night. Any advice?

I have had the same…
Wrinkles being worse is a known side effect for eye area.
For Tretinoin (not retinol but the stronger stuff on prescription) the Summary of Product characteristics doesn’t mention any indication for the treatment of wrinkles and I wonder if some of the positive effects are due to skin inflammation.
In any case I use retinaldehyde from time to time but I am losing the love for these ingredients. I don’t doubt they work for many but it has been a lot of irritation for no discernible gain.

I don't think you are supposed to go right up under your eye with retinol, maybe just the orbital bone and it spreads iyswim?

That being said I take my dermatica 0.5 retinol formula right up under my eyes and they are ok. Not in the beginning though, sadly you have to go through the 'uglies' with retinol it gets worse before it gets better.

Thankfully six months in now and it really is doing amazing things for my skin, not sure about wrinkles as I also have Botox and fillers so it would probably be ok without the retinol but I do find that it improved the quality of my skin massively.

I’ve been using it too OP. Doesn’t sting and shouldn’t. I don’t think it’s agreeing with you, I’d stop using it.

Thanks, I've stopped for now. Bugger! It wasn't cheap either. Might try again in a few weeks but only a couple of nights a week.

OP, you can take it back to Boots & get a refund. I would!
