Dress for evening reception?

Hi All

I'm 38, 5ft3in, size 16/18 and having put on quite a bit of weight I feel like nothing suits me. I have been invited to an evening wedding reception and I have no idea where to look for an outfit - the others who will be there are all slim and always look lovely and I feel like I am going to look awful and frumpy.

Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for outfits or places to look?

I defy you not to find something perfect on the Reformation site.

Everything goes up to size 16; and a good proportion of their stock goes up to size 20 or above. Gorgeous dresses (and they’ll almost certainly have a sale pretty soon).

There are some horrors on that site - and despite the price , they all look really cheap. The vast majority are split to the thigh- yuk.

I bookmarked this from another wedding thread- there are some very dramatic dresses here , many of which would work well in a bigger size.

Without knowing your preferences and budgets there's not much to go on but there's lots of options here.

I think this ‘dress’ might be fun to wear if one either feels the cold or doesn’t want the standard strappy dress. And the strong colour and shape would mean it looks good in the photos. I’d probably want to wear it with some narrow silk or damask trousers.

Not sure about Zara sizing, admittedly.
