Adapalene/Differin v Tretinoin

Looking for advice please. I’ve previously been prescribed differin for acne and been using it for a couple of years. In conjunction with oral medicine the acne is relatively controlled (aside from a few flare ups). I tolerate the differin well.

I moved on to tret (via skin & me) as I’m in mid 40s and need to pay attention to acne/pores AND wrinkles. I have tried tret (I’m on month 3; slowly building up) and I appreciate I need to get used to it for a few months, but it’s not been a pretty sight and I feel like I’ve gone back to bad skin.
Wondering if I should just go back to differin or persevere with tret?
Is differin as good for wrinkles? Or would I be best to move to tret if I’m focusing on lines?

What strength Tretinoin have you been using?

I’m prescribed 0.024 tret.
I did have 0.1 differin.

Please persevere. When I had my first dermatica consultation for anti ageing help, I was told I needed to deal with my acne & scaring first 🤔. They were correct, I always had problematic/ acne skin but got used to it.

My skin is the best it has been, I did go through a purging phase which nearly made me stop, however, the before and after photos speak volumes. It took a good 3 months but my skin genuinely glows. First time in 40 odd years I get compliments on my skin.

Ahh, thank you. That’s good to hear. Every time I decide to give up I get convinced otherwise… I’m easily swayed!! I know I need to give it time and it would be worth it in the long run….
