Make-up, still no testers, how to choose foundation?

I don't wear foundation / tinted moisturiser regularly so it lasts ages, but I am running out of my favourite and it no longer seems to suit my skintone. My teen DD also needs to buy some for the first time.

I went into Boots yesterday - still no testers. Is there anywhere that will let you try them out? It had various counters (Clinique/Clarins/No7 etc) but no staff anywhere to be seen and I was in a bit of a hurry (was just looking). Does anyone know if they are still colour matching for you? Or at counters in department stores?

I've had no luck buying lipstick in Boots/Superdrug since Covid either, the apps that show it on your face aren't great.

What are others doing? I've never bought make-up online because of having to guess colours.

Lots of testers in Boots and John Lewis, just tried some this morning. Was a bigger Boots though.

try sites like these: findation.com/ www.temptalia.com/

You can put in the brand and shade you've used in the past, even if it's discontinued and it will suggest matches in other brands.

Actually I got muddled there, it was Superdrug that had no testers, I then went into Boots assuming it was the same, wandered round the counters which were deserted and had to go again, so I didn't check the other displays. We haven't got a John Lewis but I might try Boots again in that case.

I'll try the Temptalia link too.

QVC is good because of there 30 day no quibble guarantee. You do have to pay return postage but it’s not much for a small foundation.

Another shout out for Findation.com - they are really good.

Il Makiage have a good colour match just by answering some questions online - was spot on with me. Not cheap though.

I was able to try in Body Shop, and found one that doesn't irritate my eyes, bonus!
